I'm a senior Neuroscience major at UC Santa Cruz, with coursework spanning biology, biochemistry, neuroplasticity, and functional anatomy. I'm currently a researcher in a neuroscience lab, which has given me a strong, hands-on foundation in the subject beyond the classroom. Combined with my coursework, this is the foundation for the biology and biochemistry tutoring I offer.
My teaching experience centers on individualized, one-on-one instruction. I trained and certified as a Registered Behavior Technician, delivering one-on-one behavioral therapy to children ages 8 to 12, where I collected data on their progress and adjusted my approach in real time based on what was and wasn't working. I've also directly tutored math one-on-one, including six months of consistent instruction with a foster student focused on building confidence with foundational skills rather than just completing assignments. Across these experiences, I've learned that tutoring works best when it's interactive rather than lecture-style. I ask students to explain concepts back in their own words, use analogies tied to things they already understand, and check in frequently rather than assuming a concept has landed.
For video production, I've been learning the skills since I was young. I completed a Career Technical Education pathway in high school, and built on that foundation by writing screenplays, directing and teaching drama to young students, editing footage for public showcases, and working on a professional film set. I also offer English and writing support, informed by this same background in directing and producing narrative content. My goal with any student is to make material feel approachable rather than intimidating, and to build a lasting understanding that carries over into their coursework and beyond.
