Hi! My name is Mannat and I'm a psychology student at UCSC. I’ve been tutoring math for over four years, working with students from elementary school through high school. I love working with students who feel stuck, frustrated, or unsure where to start. My strength as a tutor is meeting students exactly where they are. I pay attention to learning styles, confidence, and mindset — not just the content — because how a student feels while learning matters just as much as what they’re learning.

Most of my experience comes from working as a Lead Instructor at Mathnasium, where I taught math in both one-on-one and small group settings. I helped students improve in everything from basic number sense to algebra and beyond, and I also supported newer instructors in building effective teaching skills. That role taught me how to explain concepts in multiple ways, adjust my approach instantly, and recognize when a student needs to slow down or when they're ready to push forward. Before that, I tutored through a local program where I worked one-on-one with elementary students, supporting them in math, reading, homework, and study skills with customized learning plans.

My tutoring style is patient, encouraging, and focused on understanding the “why,” not just memorizing steps. If something isn’t clicking, I change the explanation, add visuals, or break the problem down further until it does. I want every student to leave our sessions feeling more confident, more capable, and proud of their progress.
