Bio

I earned my B.S. in Physics from the University of California, Santa Barbara in 2007 and have been tutoring students on and off since then. I have worked one-on-one with learners ranging from middle school through college in subjects including algebra, geometry, precalculus, trigonometry, calculus, and introductory physics (mechanics and electricity and magnetism). I earned my B.S. in Physics from the University of California, Santa Barbara in 2007 and have been tutoring students on and off since then. I have worked one-on-one with learners ranging from middle school through college in subjects including algebra, geometry, precalculus, trigonometry, calculus, and introductory physics (mechanics and electricity and magnetism). My experience has primarily been in individualized tutoring settings, where I tailor sessions to each student’s pace and learning style.

In my sessions, I focus on breaking complex problems into manageable steps and helping students understand the “why” behind the math and physics. I often guide students through worked examples, then gradually shift responsibility so they can confidently solve problems on their own. I place strong emphasis on developing general problem-solving skills, since these carry over across topics and help students become more independent learners.

I am currently re-engaging in tutoring and enjoy helping students strengthen foundational understanding, build confidence in math and science, and feel more comfortable approaching challenging material. My goal is to create a supportive, low-pressure environment where students can ask questions freely and make steady, measurable progress.

Helpful and Understanding

Steffanie picked up right were I was in my course work and was helpful in teaching me new methods to solve problems. She is encouraging when it comes to putting in the work to practice calculus problems and was understanding of when I felt tripped up by something. Great tutor!!

Patient and great teaching!
