Hey! I’m a recent Biochemistry PhD graduate from Johns Hopkins, where my research explored how malaria parasites adapt their metabolism to survive in hostile environments. Hey! I’m a recent Biochemistry PhD graduate from Johns Hopkins, where my research explored how malaria parasites adapt their metabolism to survive in hostile environments. Over the years, I’ve taught undergraduates as a TA, mentored master’s and PhD students in research settings, and tutored high school youth in Baltimore City. That range taught me how to meet students where they are and guide them toward clarity through patience and empathy.

My tutoring style is engaging and adaptable. I backtrack to what students already understand, sketch things out visually, and use the simplest analogies I can think of until the lightbulb moment hits. I focus on helping students build lasting confidence and a deeper appreciation for how science connects to real life, not just on getting through the next test.

Outside the lab, I coach lacrosse and work with students on becoming well-rounded individuals who value teamwork, persistence, and self-trust. Whether it’s breaking down a tricky biochemical pathway or learning to see challenges as opportunities, I believe real progress comes from curiosity, consistency, and a bit of fun along the way. I’m also a big believer in second chances and late bloomers - underdogs, you’re in good company.

Spent all of my higher education training studying and researching in the biochemistry space. Masters thesis focused on protein biochemistry of thermophilic CRISPR complexes. PhD dissertation centered around the metabolic biochemistry of the malaria parasite, involving novel drugs from the US Dept of Defense, and also genetically engineering parasites to knock-out or knock-in proteins. Rigorous training at Hopkins for my MS and PhD have fully prepared me with the deepest understanding of biochemistry and molecular biology.

Excelled in AP biology, and then went on to do a BS, MS, and then PhD in biochemistry at Johns Hopkins. My rigorous academic training in biochemistry equipped me with the deepest appreciation for how life on earth works, and I am eager to share that with the folks that I tutor!

Majored in biochemistry in undergrad with a physical chemistry emphasis (instead of a biology emphasis) and went on to do a biochemistry masters and PhD at Johns Hopkins, further studying the basis of thermodynamics, equilibrium, kinetics, and other core aspects of general chemistry.

17+ years playing lacrosse, starting with 4 years playing competitive club lacrosse at UMBC (reached NCLL conference final 4 my senior year). I have spent all 8 years of my Hopkins grad school training on the club lacrosse team, with 4 years spent as one of the team captains. I also coached Baltimore inner city youth occasionally during my PhD training. I am now playing midfield for the Palo Alto Ducks mens lacrosse club and coaching for the Palo Alto Tomahawks youth lacrosse club.

I spent 3 years of my PhD training as a sports nutrition startup CEO/founder, and currently a metabolic healthcare AI startup CEO/founder in Palo Alto. My public speaking experience from my PhD training at Hopkins focused on the presentation of novel research results to an academic audience. My public speaking experiences from my startup CEO experiences have a greater focus on clean and clear delivery of concepts to a wider variety of audiences.

Very knowledgable and great to work with!

I highly recommend Bobby. All of our communications in setting up the first session were prompt and efficient. He arrived right on time (even a little early!) and got straight to work getting to know my son and his Chem H class. He was highly knowledgeable and had a great way of working with my son. I could hear him asking my son to explain topics in his own words so that he could identify where the knowledge (or confidence) gaps were. He gave me great feedback about how my son was doing. My son really liked it and asked to keep working with Bobby - so I would say that is the best endorsement!
