Hi! I’m Cheryl, a recent Northwestern University graduate with dual degrees in Biological Sciences and Violin Performance from the Bienen School of Music. I have over six years of private tutoring and teaching experience working with students across math, biology, physics, violin, piano, and music theory.
My science background comes from both the classroom and hands-on research. At Northwestern, I studied Biological Sciences and served as a Teaching Assistant for Human Physiology and Animal Physiology, where I led review sessions, created practice questions, held office hours, graded coursework, and worked individually with students on challenging material.
I also conducted biomedical research at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine, where my work involved cardiovascular, lymphatic, and ophthalmologic biology. My research has led to scientific conference presentations, a first-author research project, and a co-authored publication in the Journal of Clinical Investigation.
I am also a professionally trained violinist and pianist with more than 12 years of orchestral experience and over six years of private music teaching experience.
I graduated from Northwestern's Bienen School of Music with a degree in Violin Performance and hold LTCL performance diplomas with Distinction from Trinity College London. My orchestral experience includes performing as a first violinist with the San Francisco Symphony Youth Orchestra and Hong Kong Youth Symphony Orchestra and serving as concertmaster of the Metropolitan Youth Orchestra. I have participated in numerous music festivals, competitions, and masterclasses, including a masterclass with internationally recognized violinist Ray Chen.
I have worked with students at different ages, levels, and learning styles, and I tailor each lesson to the individual student. I am happy to help with ongoing coursework, homework support, exam preparation, catching up on difficult material, getting ahead academically, or developing long-term musical skills.
