I hold a bachelors degree in Asian Studies with a focus in Japanese literature, and worked at Huntington Learning Center teaching English subjects. Nice to meet you, I’m Jenna. I'm an educational coach offering tutoring sessions for English, ESL, Japanese, and writing subjects. I hold a bachelors degree in Asian Studies with a focus in Japanese literature, and worked at Huntington Learning Center teaching English subjects. I understand that school and learning at any level can be a stressful task. I had a lot of school anxiety during my education, so I understand how difficult learning certain subjects can be. I’m here to support you at wherever you are at in your educational journey.

I speak Japanese at a conversational level and I've worked with students in intermediate, lower, and introductory level Japanese classes for five years. My tutoring sessions with lower level students include hiragana, katakana, and kanji study; grammar practice; listening and speaking; studying through media. If you’re looking to pass a class, consume Japanese media, visit for travel, or teach English in Japan, I’m your tutor.

While I was living in Japan, I taught ESL to elementary school students at a cram school near Takurazuka. I was required to make my own curriculum and lesson plans each class. I was also the only instructor for the entire hour, and had to deliver the lesson in Japanese each time.
I've taught ESL at home in America on a freelance, individual basis as well as to international college students. Besides teaching English grammar and conversation to these students, I also facilitated their comfortable integration into American culture and college life while working closely with the college's international student office.

I've worked part-time as a proofreader and editor for seven years while having sessions both online and in person. I help with subjects such as grammar, word choice, content, and information flow. I can also tailor sessions to a specific assignment. Whether it be working on video calls or simply making corrections to return online, I can provide rates and services for any need.

Patience is a virtue

I had my first lesson with Jenna and it was VERY informative. I speak only one language and have been for 28 years of my life, so learning a new language is such a big step for me. I'm the type of learner where I have to do the same lesson over and over until it's ingrained in my head, or else I forget! Jenna was very understanding of this and shapes the lesson to my needs. I signed up my daughter with Jenna for fiction writing and watched through the tryout class. Jenna is a very motivating instructor and you can feel she is passionate in both writing itself and tutoring. Jenna has flexible tutoring format based on the needs of kids and is able to do customization based on your input.
