I am a native Korean speaker and experienced Korean language instructor with several years of professional teaching experience. For the past four years, I have taught adult learners at King Sejong Institute San Francisco, working with students ranging from complete beginners learning Hangul for the first time to advanced learners developing greater fluency and confidence in Korean. I have taught in online classrooms, small groups, and individual settings, and I enjoy adapting my lessons to each student's goals and learning style.

My teaching approach combines clear explanations with practical communication. Because I teach Korean through English, I can explain grammar, sentence structure, pronunciation, and subtle differences in usage in ways that are especially helpful for English-speaking learners. Lessons may include Hangul, pronunciation, vocabulary, grammar, conversation, reading, and writing, depending on your needs. I also have extensive experience with TOPIK preparation and have helped students prepare for the exam, including students who went on to achieve TOPIK Levels 3, 4, and 5. For TOPIK learners, I provide targeted practice based on individual strengths and weaknesses, including vocabulary, grammar, reading, writing, and test-taking strategies.

Before moving to the United States, I studied Korean Language Education for three years at Hanshin University in Korea, and I later earned a TESOL Certificate from UCLA Extension. These experiences, along with years of teaching Korean to English-speaking adults, have helped me understand where Korean learners commonly struggle and how to make difficult concepts easier to understand. Whether you are starting Korean from zero, looking to speak more naturally and confidently, or working toward a TOPIK goal, I will create structured, personalized lessons to help you make meaningful and measurable progress.
