I trained Intuit reps and thousands of business owners, bookkeepers and others in QuickBooks® for 24 years, earned about 30 certifications from Intuit® in QB® desktop and QBO® including advanced and specialty areas, and taught QB® at College of Marin®. I’ve consulted in Quicken® one and off for about 24 years, especially lately.

For over 20 years, I’ve specialized in proper accounting system setup and cleanup including development of the Chart of Accounts, repair of data, files, profiles and QB® software, conversions/migrations, integrations, and other beginning through advanced short-term projects, and training.

I grew up in a family with small businesses, starting my first business at the age of 9 years old, earned a bachelor's degree from Sonoma State University® with courses in learning strategies, psychology, business and accounting, and graduated with distinction. I've completed an SBA® course in small business administration and extensive independent study in accounting, business, computers, and more.

My clients have been mostly small and medium businesses, accountants and bookkeepers, with some not-for-profits and trusts. Businesses have mostly been contractors, medical, dental and law offices, architects, engineers, designers, and others who needed to track income and expenses for projects, patients and cases, plus many wholesalers, distributors and retailers with inventory. I often quickly solved long-standing inventory and other issues.

Per client requests, I provide training in all areas of QB®, answering questions, solving problems, and guiding clients in how to be more self-reliant in their accounting including data entry, reconciling and reporting, offering homework suggestions when appropriate and support between scheduled sessions.

I offer a free first consultation, often including assessments, training and recommendations. Most who have taken advantage of it said it was very helpful for them.

I have day, evening and weekend availability. Call anytime.

ADHD

ADHD

I've been fortunate to work with many people who have the set of characteristics called ADHD and to get to share in their journey as they get to know themselves including their unique assets and opportunities. I'm experienced at working with both children and adults with ADD and ADHD. I've gained this experience through Sonoma State University where I earned a bachelor's degree in psychology and graduated with distinction, and through work as an elementary school teacher's aide, a business consultant and most importantly, life. Through a special studies program at SSU, I designed and completed a community involvement project which included organizing and leading a support group of over fifty adults around the topic of ADD, and researching and presenting psychoeducational information to the group's participants. This work also gave me the opportunity to work with some teens diagnosed with ADHD, mostly in advocacy. I also have experience working as a teacher's aide years ago with elementary school children who were diagnosed with ADHD and other learning challenges -- one of the most rewarding jobs I've ever experienced! As I also have a strong interest in food and natural medicine, I've taken the opportunity to explore natural ways to support those with ADHD. Excellent studies exist on this and I thoroughly enjoy sharing about them!
Business

Business

I've worked directly with thousands of business owners to set up their business accounting and other departments. This typically starts with assisting the business owner in becoming more self-sufficient in their accounting system. Since setting up an accounting system often requires connecting many aspects of a business, my customers and I commonly work with integrating departments and setting up organizational systems that work well with the accounting system. This has given me extensive behind-the-scenes experience in accounting, computer hardware, software and networking, business plan development (including marketing plan development), sales and marketing. In the course of my work, I've had the opportunity to do some interesting things such as learn how a naturopath makes her own B-12 shots, or assist with a photo shoot. But typically my business consulting services are more focused on integrating accounting and other areas of a business. Call for details and a free first consultation.
Computer Science

Computer Science

My computer science skills and experience are in database management including creating and maintaining files and profiles using QuickBooks, Windows, Mac and other software. My education includes various computer courses including one on programming Mac computers, and one covering HTML. Most often, my computer science skills come into play when assisting people in resolving issues in order to use their everyday programs such as QuickBooks.
Cooking

I have completed most of my premed for naturopathic medicine. At Sonoma State University, I graduated with distinction with courses in research, critical thinking, learning strategies, community involvement for people with ADHD, statistics, biology, chemistry, and other subjects. My focus was on the health of the whole person, including spiritual, neurological and other aspects of psychology (termed “transpersonal psychology). At Sonoma State, I was invited to complete two teachers’ assistantships for two lead professors, was mentored to develop my own courses in psychology, earned my bachelor’s degree in psychology, and was inducted into PsyChi, the national honor society in psychology. Independently, I deeply studied: herbs; vegetarian, vegan, raw food, gluten-free, brain healing, detox, low sugar and other diets; gardening including wild gardening (also called “foraging”); ancient ways of preserving food including fermenting such as with “forever cultures;” and other modalities, often adapting and combining them to achieve specific goals. I have worked in grocery stores’ health and body departments, observing people over just a few days making significant healing progress on chronic and severe issues after adding simple, natural remedies to their lifestyles. At the stores, my colleagues informally referred to me as “the homeopathy expert.” I think it should be noted that homeopathy is found in United States physician’s desk references. I think it should be asked: if homeopathy is a placebo, then why does it work so well on infants and animals? And why does it work so well when it costs so little, since placebos reportedly tend to work better if they cost more? I’ve used natural healing remedies myself to successfully heal from a scorpion sting, a brown recluse bite, and other conditions, sometimes harvesting and preparing the remedies I used. For many years, I’ve consulted, or as I like to say assisted people in their own research, on the subject of wellness. I would like to welcome you to call anytime

I've recently completed a very thorough review of K through fifth grade math, arithmetic, prealgebra, and additional math topics as a way to stay very familiar with the latest math terminology and teaching methods. Free open source LibreOffice's word processing software, LibreOffice Writer works like Microsoft Word but without the fees and dependency on "Big Tech." It also comes with spreadsheet and other types of popular software, which are also free and open source. It's easy to transition to and use. I've used LibreOffice Writer for many years in my business, studies and other personal needs without paying for word processing, and it has served me well. I enjoy introducing other people to it. I tutor in Writer in such topics as downloading, installing, creating and developing documents, and integrating with other software. Knowledgeable and patient tutor.

I am not very computer smart. She helped me understand what would probably be the best solution to correct my messed up files. She is very patient and understanding with me.

Patty, 3 lessons with Christine

Expert in Quickbooks and Tutoring

Christine is a very knowledgeable and patient tutor. She understands not only how to educate in Quickbooks but also how to help in a real world business. I have found some tutors are good at teaching on an academic basis, but not necessarily good at tutoring in real world business. Christine is great at both. She explains things very clearly and patiently. She has been very helpful in the transition of taking over a businesses accounting from another accountant. I would highly recommend her.

Michelle, 3 lessons with Christine

Quickbooks review

Christine was asked to get me back up to speed on QB desktop and QBO. She was experienced in both and pointed out the pros and cons for each. I am taking over the books for a start up company and because of her instruction was able to better choose the appropriate accounting software.

Sean, 1 lesson with Christine

QB lesson

I liked that she offers a free 1 hour consultation so I could decide if she was the right tutor for me. After this we did a 1.5 lesson and then I decided to continue with more. She helped me choose the best version of QB for our family company and taught me the essentials of QB. She often checks in during my lesson to make sure I am following and understanding. I like that I am learning QB customized to our business, I am not just learning general features of the software but learning how to apply them to our business.

Melissa, 1 lesson with Christine

Christine was thorough, knowledgable, efficient and patient with me, which I appreciated very much.
