I am a native of the Bay Area who graduated from Saint Ignatius College Prep ("SI") as a high school student. After SI, I earned a B.S. degree in Chemistry from UC Berkeley and a PhD in Chemistry at Columbia University. I have been working as a Chemist and Chemistry Teacher for more than 20 years. Over my career I have instructed and tutored students in Chemistry from many different backgrounds, abilities and educational levels. Most pertinent to tutoring is my experience with ‘one-to-one’ Chemistry teaching and mentoring. In this role I have learned to patiently teach Chemistry to individuals with little or no prior subject knowledge and I am happy to tailor my teaching and mentoring to meet their specific academic level and way of learning. As such, I am completely aware of the diverse range of individual learning styles and the need to accordingly adapt my teaching style, particularly for individuals who struggle with the subject matter and are not naturally drawn to it.
