With my unique background and education, I can work successfully with a wide variety of students who have a wide variety of "issues" with learning math. I understand where the problems are, and how best to get past them and onto a confident path to math success.

With my unique background and education, I can work successfully with a wide variety of students who have a wide variety of "issues" with learning math. I understand where the problems are, and how best to get past them and onto a confident path to math success.

My undergraduate degree is in mathematics, and I have worked as a computer professional, as well as a math tutor. My doctoral degree is in psychology. I think this is a wonderful combination: I can relate to students, help them move past their frustrations and fears, and at the same time I deeply understand math and take great joy in communicating this to reluctant and struggling students, as well as to well-performing students who want to maximize their achievements.

I look forward to talking with parents about their concerns for their students. We CAN make a difference!

Study Skills

As a doctoral student in clinical psychology, I was hired by the university to teach study skills, test taking skills, and time management to incoming freshmen students. As part of this job, I was trained in and provided materials for each of these topics. I often find, when working with my students, that an important component of the tutoring is attention to these skills in addition to the specific subject areas for which tutoring had been requested.

Knows math, and knows how to teach it too.

Stan thoroughly explained the concepts I was struggling with. He is clear and knowledgeable and also gave me tips on how not to be intimidated by test questions. I owe my success on my final to him.

Stan helped our son prepare for his Algebra 1 final. He did a broad review and then focused on Anthony's weak areas. He was kind and patient and has a nice teaching way about him.

Doing a fantastic job!

Stan is very patient and gets my daughter to talk. She is able to see where she understands or doesn't understand. Stan explains new concepts clearly in a way that my daughter can understand. He uses a small white board, which is also very helpful.
