About Me
I grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area. After my undergraduate, I achieved PhD in Molecular Biophysics from Cal Tech. I moved back to Marin to accept a job in the natural sciences & mathematics department at Dominican University. Over the past 15 years, I have had the opportunity to teach biochemistry, genetics, intro & advance cell biology, intro astronomy, intro physics, biology, neuroscience, & Big History.
My approach to tutoring and teaching varies by the subject matter & individual needs. My belief is that all students are capable of success. My goal as a tutor & professor is to help my students take advantage of their strengths while also gaining confidence in areas needing improvement.
My goal as a tutor is to help my students (you) not only get the right answer, but more importantly to develop the skills & adeptness to be able to solve problems on your own with both confidence and ease. I enjoy seeing my students nurture their own academic identity. I have taught thousands of students over the years, & I have seen all types of learning styles. Due to my wide range of teaching & academic experience (everything from large classrooms to as a mentor & advisor), I take great pride in helping individuals excel & achieve success in the scientific disciplines I have spent my life so passionate about.
I am most experienced with tutoring college & high school students, but I’m not opposed to working with younger students. I believe the greatest reward in teaching is helping my students gain confidence through measurable succeed, and watching them develop a new excitement for science learning and the natural world. I am available to tutor in groups.
