My name is Marité, and I am a credentialed bilingual educator based in the Bay Area with over ten years of experience teaching in a Spanish–English dual language immersion program. As an elementary school teacher, I teach core academic subjects, including math, English Language Arts (ELA), and Spanish Language Acquisition (SLA), to both native English speakers and multilingual learners. I also tutor elementary school students in math and ELA, and support students of all ages in developing their Spanish language skills. As a native Spanish speaker from Perú, I provide Spanish tutoring to learners ranging from elementary students to adults seeking to build or strengthen their proficiency.

I am passionate about creating engaging, supportive learning environments where students feel motivated and excited to learn. My tutoring approach is student-centered and personalized—I take time to understand each learner’s strengths, goals, and learning style, and work collaboratively to develop effective strategies for success. Whether supporting reading, writing, math, or language acquisition, I focus on building both skill and confidence.

I emphasize real-world connections and meaningful learning, helping students apply what they learn to everyday situations. With younger students, I focus on building strong foundational skills, while with older students and adults, I support fluency, comprehension, and confidence.

As a patient and approachable educator, I strive to create a positive and encouraging space where students feel comfortable taking risks and growing as learners. I am committed to helping each student succeed while fostering independence, confidence, and a lifelong love of learning.

Knowledgeable and patient tutor

My son, took Spanish 1 his sophomore year, then in his junior year he didn't due his schedule didn't permit it since it was 7th period and he plays Varsity Baseball and would be missing many classes. Taking a year in-between Spanish 1 and Spanish 2, wasn't the best choice since Spanish 2's course goes at a much faster pace and builds upon Spanish 1. Also, with having a child with ADHD and a central processing challenge and he probably should have taken it his junior year and not his senior year. Marie has been excellent in explaining many different aspects of Spanish. Grammar isn't easy, along with memorizing over new 100 words a month. My son has been tutored for three weeks now and my son is feeling more confident in Spanish and it isn't so daunting, he is gaining more knowledge and we are very thankful to find Marite. She is pretty amazing.

Knowledgeable and Patient Tutor

Marite has been teaching my daughter Spanish III honors. She has really helped her hone her skills for pronunciation, vocabulary, verb conjugation and comprehension. She is a very patient teacher and my daughter really enjoys her sessions with Marite. She provides strategies to help with vocabulary and already in 2 months my daughter has improved her grades. I would highly recommend anyone looking for learning any level of Spanish especially comprehension and pronunciation should reach out to Marite.
