Hello all here's why you might want to consider me to be your tutor. I have an undergraduate degree in Mathematics with a Concentration in Teaching. I've completed a Teaching Credential program and aside from an ongoing state assessment i have passed all other requirements such as courses, supervisor observations and Student Teaching at the high school level. I am currently employed at a local High School as an Instructional Aide. Since the summer of 2023 (excluding the summer 2024) I have worked with a math program based in the East Bay where I provide tutoring during the semester sessions and then teaching in the summer sessions. During the semester sessions I primarily work with 9th graders who are in Algebra and during the summer session I have co-taught an Algebra class and middle school math class.
During my student teaching in the Spring of 2025 I taught some Geometry and end of semester Algebra concepts to a mix of 9th and 10th graders.
I have tutored college level classes such as number theory and abstract algebra while I took those classes. In my free time I am developing a high school curriculum and textbook about mathematical proofs and number theory (typically college level classes).
As for methodology in teaching and tutoring I'm a firm believer making students do the work when I know they are capable of doing so but may not have the confidence. For example if a student I working on a question and I know they know how to do it I won't help them at and instead ask prodding questions like "Think about what you know about the problem" "What should be your first step" "What is the end goal of this problem". However if I know the student is struggling with an idea or hasn't covered it yet I will apply much more guidance.
