Hi, I’m Anita! I recently completed my Master’s degree in Human Rights Studies at Columbia University following my graduation with honors in International Relations and Human Rights Law from Claremont McKenna College. Over the past six years, I have worked as a writing, essay, and resume coach, English language tutor, and Academic Study and Career coach with youth, high school, college, and graduate students. My students have excelled in their writing courses, received acceptances to top universities, and been able to pursue opportunities with resumes that reflect their qualifications. Most importantly, they have enjoyed the process of pursuing their writing endeavors!
I have coached students on all stages of the essay process including developing a strong argument and outline, efficiently identifying relevant research sources (gray literature, scholarly works, primary sources), addressing grammar and mechanics, and strengthening the structure and style of papers. With younger students, I love collaborating with them to discover what topics and writing styles they enjoy engaging with most. This frames the writing process in a fun, creative light!
As an Academic Success Coach at Claremont McKenna College, I received extensive training on helping students navigate time management and organization, how to overcome procrastination and test anxiety, and how to practice efficient reading, note-taking, and exam prep skills. I also taught tangible skills on how to set goals and build good habits, how to streamline workflow, and how to manage stress. Prioritizing wellness habits throughout the tutoring process greatly improves academic performance by making learning easier and more engaging.
Through guiding questions, attentive listening, and encouragement, my aim is to support students in finding their unique voice and to teach them skills to clearly articulate and structure their thoughts in the form of writing.
