Hi! I’m Sabrina, a senior at California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, majoring in Biochemistry with over three years of experience supporting chemistry students in both classroom and lab settings.

I currently work as an Organic Chemistry Learning Assistant, where I help students strengthen their understanding of core organic chemistry concepts covered in lab classes. I help assist with lab techniques, problem-solving approaches, and study strategies to make chemistry more intuitive and less intimidating.

Since my second year at Cal Poly, I’ve served as a peer mentor for first-year chemistry majors, helping them adjust to college coursework, lab expectations, and study routines. I’m also an active member of Alpha Chi Sigma, the professional chemistry fraternity, where I participate in community science outreach events and provide free tutoring and educational events for local students once a week.

My teaching style is patient, clear, and concept-focused. I believe that mastering chemistry means understanding the “why” behind reactions and equations — not just memorizing formulas. In our sessions, I aim to help students build confidence by breaking down complex ideas into understandable steps and applying them through real examples.

Although I’m comfortable tutoring a wide range of topics, General Chemistry is my favorite! I especially enjoy helping students connect the fundamental ideas that form the foundation for all higher-level chemistry courses.
