Learn variables, expressions, linear equations, inequalities, rate conversions, slope, systems of equations, functions, sequences and more middle school / early high school math. I've been teaching these skills for over 20 years. I'll show you how it works, what it means, and you'll get plenty of practice to develop your confidence, speed, and accuracy.

I have experience as a volunteer afterschool tutor for elementary school students. I also taught an afterschool SSAT middle school class to a group of 20-30 students. My teaching style is encouraging and creative. I use tactile teaching methods when appropriate in math lessons, which I have found especially effective in working with younger students. In reading, writing, and spelling I come up with games and activities to keep students engaged and improve retention.

I have tutored numerous students in geometry, to provide support with coursework as well as to prepare students for standardized tests such as the SAT, ACT, and GRE.

I have worked with numerous students to prepare them for the GRE. I have my own materials, and help students prepare their own study materials to draw on their individual learning styles. I have a strong background in the quantitative side of the test, as a result of many years of teaching math. My guidance on the writing test focuses on core writing skills, organization, crafting a focused argument, and polish.

I crafted my skills as a student before becoming a teacher. I studied for and did well on my exams and standardized tests, earning strong grades through good study skills and dedication. I completed my BA, MA, and PhD. I began teaching students in high school, received formal training during my sophomore year of college, and subsequently became an independent instructor. I have helped many students improve reading comprehension, critical thinking skills, and writing.

I have a PhD and nearly 15 years of teaching experience. I worked for several years as a standardized test and academic subject instructor in private, small group, and classroom formats, first as an employee of a large tutoring company in California and later as an independent tutor. I have also taught classes at the undergraduate level. I have worked with over 100 students on standardized tests, including the SSAT, ISEE, PSAT, SAT, ACT, and GRE.

I have 20 years of teaching/tutoring experience and understand the challenges that students face when trying to write. I structure lessons to build skills methodically and integrate practice to solidify skills and increase confidence. I have substantial experience (academic and professional) writing documents ranging from a professional memo to an academic thesis/dissertation. I serve as a research/writing coach and editor for high school, undergraduate, and graduate students.

Incredibly helpful, super patient

Menaka is amazing! She was able to help my 7th grader out before a math test to teach him a concept that he didn’t understand at all. She jumped right in, was patient, kept him very engaged, and had him feeling much more confident. I was blown away.

Menaka helped my daughter prepare for the ACT. My daughter struggles with math and this was their primary focus during the weekly sessions.
