Hello, I am Christopher, but please call me Chris. I was finishing upper division lab work for my Bachelors in Chemistry, when Covid-19 forced us all from school. As teaching has gone online, I am using my tutoring and After School Program experience to help students transition to distance and hybrid learning.
I have taught a broad range of subjects in many formats in person and online, focusing on my STEM background. It has not always been easy to distill science down to the short format of tutoring. I have learned many leadership skills used in classroom settings to encourage calm focus and fun exploration.
I live for the look of awe and inspiration that my students have when they achieve their goals.

I have experience tutoring in math up to high school and freshman college. My expertise level for math includes Prealgebra, Algebra I, Algebra II, GED Prep, SAT Math, and Calculus I.
My method for teaching math focuses on thorough explanation of the theory and proof in a stepwise, logical order. Once the student has shown their understanding by repetition in their own words, word problems using real world examples help to reinforce the application to reality.

I have experience tutoring in chemistry up to college sophomore for fellow students. My expertise level for Chemistry includes High School Chemistry, Biology, and Organic Chemistry, and undergraduate Chemistry topics such as Intro to Analytical Chemistry, Intro to Organic Synthesis, and Thermochemistry.
I love Chemistry and its many forms, as they reveal the mysterious nature of reality. Once you have the proper training and study habits, you can explore a world of possibilities through science. I use a system of repetition mixed with real world examples to illustrate the universal applications of science and chemistry.

If you are struggling with the complexities of Math or Science, or if you simply want to reach farther in your academic pursuits, please contact me with your subject of interest and intended goals. We will work together to make

Statistics

Statistics

In today's fast paced world, there is a flood of data that needs to be analyzed for significant patterns. I have experience using the tools of statistics to find these patterns, and verify their significance using t-tests, z-tables, and linear and multiple regression. I have taught both beginners and experienced students how to better use statistics and analysis to keep themselves on solid ground.

Homeschool

Algebra 1,

Algebra 1

While completing a Chemistry degree, I had to learn algebra and calculus at a deep level, which allowed me to understand higher level equations in Chemistry and Physics. I use a logical system with Algebra 1 of building from basic rules for algebraic substitutions to expanding into more complex topics, including real vs imaginary, linear equations and inequalities, solving systems of equations, and intro to trig and probability. The skills of the student are used as the starting point from which we work toward their goals in Algebra 1.
Algebra 2,

Algebra 2

In the process of obtaining a bachelor's in Chemistry, I had to master the tools of Algebra to understand how to manipulate the equations that define upper division Science.
Chemistry,

Chemistry

It takes dedication and a solid foundation of Math and Physics to learn Chemistry. When my fellow students and I struggled, I found a calling to help through tutoring. As a working student, I had to make the most of good study habits and logical tricks to break the complex and abstract into the simple to understand. My teaching style is to focus on goals by overcoming challenges of increasing difficulty, until the student owns the knowledge.
Prealgebra,

Prealgebra

In my years of tutoring, I have taught elementary to college students. Although Math ranges greatly in complexity, the techniques to break it down are universal. I use a goal focused approach to make complex problems easy to understand. With this system the student will gain tools to use in future STEAM classes.
Precalculus,

Precalculus

The solid foundation of Algebra and Precalc prepares the mind for the complex math needed for college STEM classes. Through practice and steady growth, the student gains tools to analyze the real world and gain scientific knowledge. I had to master these techniques as a Chemist, and I will help you to gain confidence for Calculus I and beyond.
SAT Math,

SAT Math

I have worked from the top guide for SAT Math, which has the updated rules for modern SAT. From this new standard, I have found the best techniques for maximizing total score. The patterns of the test have weaknesses to exploit for quick analysis, which saves you time and headaches.

I have helped several friends and clients to gain the confidence to overcome the GED. These adults found the strength to reach higher in their professional life. I use a goal oriented philosophy that focuses on reinforcing weak skills to enhance skills that are strong. There are many ways to solve problems, where patience and determination are needed to break large problems into step by step solutions.

Good and patient

I will hire him again as he is very flexible and patient with my daughter. He responded to email within couple hours and it is so easy to communicate with him. With the exotic had here, it made me more confident with the tutor in this site.

Wai, 3 lessons with Christopher

Knowledgeable and dedicated tutor.

I had a very difficult project in a college level physical chemistry course. He not only researched youtube videos, articles, and figures before the session to help prepare me, but had notes that outlined step by step what we were going to do. He is the only reason I finished that project and I feel very confident now about the material!
