Hello, my name is Christopher, but please call me Chris. With my Bachelors in Chemistry from SJSU, I am using my tutoring and After School Program experience to help students in a broad range of subjects in person and online. I will work patiently to create understanding and inspiration in your student as they achieve their goals.

I have experience tutoring in Math up to high school and freshman college, including Algebra I, Algebra II, GED Prep, SAT Math, and Calculus I. My method for teaching math focuses on thorough explanation of the theory and proof in a stepwise, logical order. Once the student has shown their understanding, we will use word problems to help to reinforce the application to reality.

I have experience tutoring Chemistry including High School Chemistry, Biology, and Organic Chemistry, and undergraduate Chemistry topics such as Intro to Analytical Chemistry, Intro to Organic Synthesis, and Thermochemistry. Once you have the proper study habits, I use a system of repetition mixed with real world examples to illustrate the universal applications of science and chemistry.

If your student is struggling academically, we will work together to make a realistic goal and rewarding steps along the way to keep you interested. You can achieve great things in the world of STEM, if you work hard and keep your eyes on the prize.

Approved Subjects

Algebra 1

Algebra 1

While completing my Chemistry degree, I had to master algebraic problem solving. I used this experience breaking down equations and functions to develop a systematic approach to improving mathematics skills for your student. We will start from basic rules for algebraic substitutions later expanding into more complex topics, including linear equations and inequalities, factoring of quadratic equations, and intro to imaginary and complex numbers. We will work together toward their goals in Algebra 1, increasing their skills and confidence to tackle more advanced work.
Algebra 2

Algebra 2

While completing my Bachelor's in Chemistry, I had to master the tools of Algebra II to understand how to use more complex equations in the analysis of data. From this experience, I refined a system that builds the tool set for advanced algebraic problem solving. We will build upon the fundamentals from Algebra I, using new tools to factor higher order polynomials, dissect conic sections, and introduce your student to the worlds of trigonometry and statistical probability. They will continue to grow their confidence as their mathematical tool set expands, preparing them for greater achievements in education.
ASVAB

ASVAB

During the completion of my Bachelors, I had to incorporate a variety of skills in various subjects. Using this experience, I have helped students to hone their skill set to pass the ASVAB, continuing on to proud service for this great country. I would be honored to assist you to bring out your best in preparation for a bright future.
Calculus

Calculus

While completing my Bachelor's in Chemistry, I had to incorporate the methods of differential and integral Calculus to better comprehend the data analysis methods in modern Chemistry. This experience illuminated the difficult, intellectual path that Newton had to climb to visualize reality through advanced equations. Using the system of stepwise growth, your student will begin with limit theory methods, then use these tools to dissect the rates and areas of functions. Their confidence will grow along with their tool set to excel in higher level mathematics, and gain proficiency in Calculus.
Chemistry

Chemistry

It takes dedication and a solid foundation of Math and Physics to learn Chemistry. When my fellow students asked for assistance, I found that I had to make the most of good study habits, mnemonics, and a variety of learning styles to break the complex and abstract into the fundamentals hiding beneath the chaos. My teaching style is to focus on goals by overcoming challenges of increasing difficulty, until the student owns the knowledge with confidence.
GED

GED

I have helped several friends and clients to gain the confidence to overcome the GED. These adults found the strength to reach higher in their professional life. I use a goal oriented philosophy that focuses on reinforcing weak skills to enhance skills that are strong. There are many ways to solve problems, where patience and determination are needed to break large problems into step by step solutions.
Prealgebra

Prealgebra

In my years of tutoring, I have taught elementary to college students. From this experience I have developed a system of drilling in the fundamentals which creates a tool kit that students use to break down complex problems into their constituent parts. I encourage them to use creative energy to find their unique path to the solution, increasing their confidence to overcome greater challenges.
Precalculus

Precalculus

The solid foundation of Algebra and Precalc will prepare your student's mind for the complex equations tackled in Calculus. Through the application of fundamentals of Algebra and mathematical logic, they will acquire the tools to analyze the real world and gain scientific knowledge. I will help your student to increase their confidence for Calculus I and beyond.
SAT Math

SAT Math

I have worked from the top guide for SAT Math, which has the updated rules for modern SAT. From this new standard, I have found the best techniques for maximizing total score. Your student will learn to exploit weaknesses for quick analysis, which saves you time and headaches.
Spanish

Spanish

During my time growing up in SoCal, I was immersed in colloquial Spanish and the mixed language of Spanglish. I have taken 2 years of formal Spanish for the grammar and syntax for improved structuring of ideas. Whether you need homework help, better retention of vocabulary, or assistance writing formal essays for class, we will work together to improve your skills so you can communicate properly.
Statistics

Statistics

In today's fast paced world, there is a flood of data that needs to be analyzed for significant patterns. I have experience using the tools of statistics to find these patterns, and verify their significance using t-tests, z-tables, and linear and multiple regression. Your student will gain the skills to achieve in statistics and analysis to keep themselves on solid ground.

Good and patient

I will hire him again as he is very flexible and patient with my daughter. He responded to email within couple hours and it is so easy to communicate with him. With the exotic had here, it made me more confident with the tutor in this site.

Knowledgeable and dedicated tutor.

I had a very difficult project in a college level physical chemistry course. He not only researched youtube videos, articles, and figures before the session to help prepare me, but had notes that outlined step by step what we were going to do. He is the only reason I finished that project and I feel very confident now about the material!
