Ever since middle school, I've had a passion for both learning about mathematics and helping others do the same. Ever since middle school, I've had a passion for both learning about mathematics and helping others do the same. I 'tutored' my younger brother and one of my friends before high school (very unofficially, but it greatly helped), and as a junior and senior I tutored math students as an employee of San Jose State University. I always find it very gratifying when my students have that "Aha" moment of clarity and understand a concept; it feel like a victory that I've shared with the student. I was homeschooled by my mother for every grade except third, fifth, and seventh, so I've always been able to learn math topics as fast as I could, and I took advantage of that to get ahead of what was expected of a student heading into college.
To my slight annoyance, nobody in my family and none of my friends have the same passion for math that I do. Whenever I've just learned an exciting concept, and I try to tell my parents or my brother how cool it is, their eyes glaze over and they just look confused. So when I am able to communicate my love for mathematics to a receptive student, I have someone I can relate to about my favorite topic.
I graduated San Jose State University with a B.A. in Mathematics, with a GPA of 3.833, earning me Magna Cum Laude status. I particularly excelled in Differential Calculus, Integral Calculus, Multivariable Calculus, Complex Calculus, Linear Algebra, Abstract Algebra, Combinatorics, Differential Equations, and Proofs.
I thoroughly enjoy being able to impart some of my joy and knowledge of mathematics to others. Most students that came to me for help at SJSU came back again, having been helped by my tutoring. I'm looking forward to helping you!
