Bio

I provide two services: Private tutoring and college/career consulting

Having hosted over 200+ hours in tutoring and TA experience, I help students find passion in engineering and achieve real results. My teaching style is simple: understand the WHY and HOW. I help student getting the big picture first then I break complex equations down to simple intuitions that everyone can understand. My students walk away with not only a finished assignment, but also useful ideas that help them excel...

Having hosted over 200+ hours in tutoring and TA experience, I help students find passion in engineering and achieve real results. My teaching style is simple: understand the WHY and HOW. I help student getting the big picture first then I break complex equations down to simple intuitions that everyone can understand. My students walk away with not only a finished assignment, but also useful ideas that help them excel beyond the classroom setting.

I also provide 1:1 consulting for college and career planning. I can guide you and provide feedback on insights into college experience, career pathways that will set you up for success. Beyond academia, I have worked in industry for over 8 years with a wide range of experience from electric cars, space hardware to robots. As software engineer working, I have solid understanding of the latest tech, trends and how you can succeed in both academia and industry.

Engineering is about building cool stuff. Whether you're here for a difficult homework or need consulting for your project or career path, I'm here to help!

College Counseling

College Counseling

As a recent graduate who has been through the college process, I have extensive knowledge about the process and requirement to apply to good colleges. Some of these include writing application essays, SAT/AP study prep and other tips that would make you a successful college applicant. I can provide consulting on future career paths based on the student's current interest, labor market demand and industry trends, family considerations so the student is best set up for success. I have helped many junior friends on college advice, would like to reach out to more potential applicants on Wyzant
Electrical Engineering

Electrical Engineering

As a controls engineer, I have interned at a Electric Vehicle startup designing battery packs and routing PCB for HIL testing equipment. I can teach you how to route a PCB with EDA tools and review basic analog and digital circuit design. I can also teach you embedded software and controls (classical and modern) which are used frequently in electrical engineering.
MATLAB

MATLAB

I use MATLAB almost everyday as a Controls Engineer. From processing and visualizing simple data to simulating advanced controllers for a drone, I can help you become better in MATLAB. It is a fantastic software to learn and is becoming indispensable tool in industry. Some of my past favorite MATLAB projects include designing a rocket engine, simulating drone controller, and many more can viewed upon request.
Mechanical Engineering

Mechanical Engineering

As a Mechanical Engineer in practice, I have 5+ Years of experience in designing mechanical parts and 2+ Years in writing embedded software. From academia to industry, I can help you in both technical and non-technical areas. In addition to comprehensive understanding in theory (Fluids, Mechanics, Controls), I can help you with CAD, software design, simulations and many more tools. I have also served many TA appointments and am trained to help students achieved both academically and technically.
Public Speaking

Public Speaking

As teaching assistant, I helped prepare and present key core concepts in easy to understand and concise manner. The public speaking skill is best shown in my experience on 1-on-1 and group mentorship on engineering subjects. In addition, I regularly attend conferences and meetings outside of academia, presenting on engineering to a wide variety of audience.
Solidworks

Solidworks

I have used Solidworks for many projects on campus and at work. In industry, I created injection molding parts and drawings for internship at automotive start up. My most sophisticated CAD is a 3D printed rocket engine with complex internal fluid manifolds.

Excellent communicator, detailed explanations

Steven is very knowledgeable and patient. He gave very good explanation of the mechanics of the subject as well as the real world context. I would recommend him for any controls theory questions.
