Hi!

I have two and a half years as a group and online tutor for introductory biology at De Anza Community College and three years’ experience as a freelance formal logic (propositional and predicate logic) tutor while attending Columbia University. I graduated Summa Cum Laude in May 2018 with a B.A. in philosophy, receiving departmental honors. I have long experience throughout my academic career of writing argumentative and philosophical essays. My expertise are with argument structure, content, and logic.

I am currently taking a gap year before embarking on PhD in philosophy.

I have over three years of experience tutoring both sentential (propositional) logic and predicate (first order) logic at an advanced college level. I have experience with several methods of proof as well as syntax, semantics and symbolization.

I am also very familiar with all the logic courses being taught at De Anza.

I have written countless argumentative and philosophical essays over the last 6 years in addition to acting as an editor and argument couch at the college level. I have received exceptional scores on the reading section of both the SAT and GRE.

If you have any questions about exactly how I can help you improve any area of writing, reading, or logic, don't hesitate to contact me to work out a customized schedule and lessen plan.

Logic

I have a degree in philosophy (with departmental honors) from Columbia University. While there I took multiple classes in classical logic (propositional and predicate) as well as an advanced course in non-classical logic. While at Columbia, I tutored fellow students in symbolic logic and have continued to tutor it post graduation.

Reviews

Experienced in Logic and knows how to teach it intuitively.

Chris is knowledgeable about different logical systems. He helps you understand why the rules of formal logic are there instead of just memorizing them. Provides tips on how to approach proofs. Overall I am satisfied with his tutoring and highly recommend.

Excellent!

Very strong command of the material, very patient, and has a multitude of ways to explain difficult concepts and make them more digestible. I highly recommend Chris.

Lord of Logic

Chris helped tutor me in multiple sessions for my Ethics course last Spring. Through his methods and efforts, I was able to understand the many layers of philosophy and got a 100% on my final paper! Now, I am learning Truth Functional Logic in a Scientific Reasoning course that is accelerated and contains rigorous assignments. Unfortunately, there is a lot of information to learn in a very short time and not a lot of hands on teaching available. In one session, he was able to easily explain many confusing concepts and help me to catch up almost a week’s worth of assignments. In addition, he is knowledgeable on the Carnap website that houses a lot of logic assignments for universities and college students. I’m so thankful for his vast knowledge and patience!

I am struggling to understand an Introductory Deductive Logic course and he is articulate, patient and incredibly knowledgeable of the subject. I anticipate finally understanding it.
