I am a former elementary school teacher. Later, I became a professor of American History at a university. I have taught many different grade levels and subjects. I have also tutored many children over the years. I enjoy one-on-one tutoring since it is a good way for students to learn their lessons. I am a former elementary school teacher. Later, I became a professor of American History at a university. I have taught many different grade levels and subjects. I have also tutored many children over the years. I enjoy one-on-one tutoring since it is a good way for students to learn their lessons. If a student is feeling confused or uncertain about an assignment, the tutor can offer structure and guidance as to how to proceed. Sometimes a student has a question that did not get answered during class time. The tutor can answer this question and spend as much time as needed to make sure the student understands the lesson. I try to make learning enjoyable while staying focused on the homework assignment that needs to be completed.

I worked at an elementary school where the reading program included one-on-one tutoring for students reading below grade level. I saw the wonderful difference this extra tutoring time made for many students who improved their reading ability considerably. I have been a strong advocate for individual tutoring ever since. Hiring a tutor is one of the best choices parents can make if they do not have the time to help their children themselves. For the younger grades, a tutor can help a student develop strong foundation skills in literacy and help shape a child’s positive attitude toward learning. I know how to motivate students to do their best!

Two of my best subjects are English and Social Studies. I have a Multiple Subjects Credential and can tutor in all subjects K-8. I also have a Single Subjects Credential in English. I have taught ESL and ESL Citizenship in addition to regular classroom English. Besides having taught school, I am a writer who loves the beauty of the English language. I have the patience and skill to develop the reading, speaking, and writing skills of any student.

Dr. R. is a very patient and knowledgeable writer. During our last meeting, we worked on a rough draft together. He was able to provide significant feedback in the areas I was struggling with. He was knowledgeable about the essay topic and provided additional resources to help better my understanding of the writing prompt. We also went over organizational issues and grammar. Dr. R. is a very good tutor. He is very knowledgeable and good at working with kids. He always talked with my son with insightful thoughts and words. My son likes to talk with him very much.
