Aloha!
My name is Nicole, and I am a passionate educator with a background in Conservation Biology, currently working on my Master’s in Education.

My academic journey began at UH Mānoa where I studied Marine Biology. While there, I had the incredible opportunity to intern on a coral reef research project in Kāneʻohe Bay—leading to my first publication. I later completed my degree in Conservation Biology at Arizona State University, where I published a second study exploring how anxiety and depression impact student performance in undergraduate STEM courses. While I loved field research, I realized my true calling is in the classroom. I’m now pursuing my M.Ed. to teach high school science and math and spark a lifelong passion for conservation in the next generation.

Over the past decade, I’ve tutored students of all ages across algebra, geometry, elementary math, and a wide range of sciences (including chemistry, geology, and ecology), as well as some other courses such as SAT and ACT prep, debate and ballet. I have extensive experience working with students who have learning differences, such as dyscalculia, and I understand firsthand how frustrating it can be when numbers just won't stay put. I believe that with patience and the right approach, anyone can excel at math—it’s simply a matter of finding the strategy that clicks best for the individual.

As a self-proclaimed math enthusiast who earned a perfect score on the SAT math section (2200 overall), my goal isn't just to help students improve their grades, but to help them build genuine confidence and realize that learning can actually be fun.

I look forward to working together and helping your student reach their full potential!

Knowledgeable and flexible tutor

This is our first visit with Nicole. Nicole works very well with my child, who is typically very shy. She helps my child with her 8th grade writing English and science lab report, makes great suggestions to improve her skills. She is willing to review her papers online and via emails which help us save times with in-person visits. Highly recommended.
