About Zoheb

Hi I'm Zoheb!

I currently work as a Financial Analyst. I also consult with the Bureau of Labor Statistics/Economic Analysis as an economist analyzing the inflation in the bay area.

I graduated from the University of California, San Diego, where I majored in quantitative economics, and political science. I also wrote a dissertation, which was about 100 pages in math/economics/political science to graduate with highest honors (both majors), in 3 years.

I have been a tutor to numerous students over 10 years, ranging from middle school to graduate students.

One of the things I have learned through my education is that it is not enough to work hard, you have to learn to work smart. The methods I teach will not only help you learn the material and concepts but also get the results with the most efficiency, so that you can do more, with less time. You have probably seen other children/students who can achieve straight A's, and do everything and make it look easy. With my assistance, I can help you achieve this!

I realize that due to the technical concepts involved in statistics, algebra and higher levels of math, students tend to memorize formulas and concepts, but become frustrated when they encounter problems that require them to apply variations of those particular formulas or concepts. In general, I address this issue by explaining the concepts in terms of relevant real world scenarios.

Specifically, I first determine whether students are having difficulties with understanding the connection between a particular concept and its application to the problem or with the concept itself by asking them to solve alternative scenarios of the same problem. Then, I explain each step of the problem as it relates to the concept(s) in the context of relevant real word scenarios while confirming that they truly understand my explanations. Finally, I assign problems that involve applying the concept(s) in similar ways to the ones with which they were having difficulty but also in different ways that require a firm understanding of the concept(s).

I conduct both online and face-to-face tutoring sessions. I look forward to an opportunity to help you succeed in your academic journey and help you reach the "aha" moment that I have helped many other students reach in the past.

Went from a D to a B!

I worked with Zoheb when I was taking a Business Statistics class at SJSU. I was retaking the course, the first time it was extremely difficult for me and I got a D in the course. Working with Zoheb the second time I was able to get a B in the course. He is very knowledgable and patient, and responds to communications very quickly. I would work with him again if I took another math course. Thanks,
