I know which parts of microbiology feel overwhelming at first, because I’ve watched many colleagues and trainees run into the same ones. I work with CLS and MLS students, people preparing for the ASCP BOC exam on a first attempt or a retake, and working professionals who want to refresh their micro skills.
My sessions are practical, and they start with you. Our first hour begins with a short diagnostic quiz, and I ask you to say your reasoning aloud, because how you get to an answer tells me more than the answer itself. From there I score you by topic, and we choose your three priority areas and build a written four-week study plan together. After that, each session focuses on your weakest areas. We work through organism identification the way a bench scientist does, using original practice cases and decision-tree flowcharts you can keep and reuse. I explain the pattern behind every miss, not just the correct answer, so the logic carries over to questions you haven’t seen. Every session ends with a clear next step, and if you learn well with peers, I also offer small-group sessions. My tutoring is independent of ASCP and any employer. I never use patient information or real exam questions, and I can’t promise a pass, but I will help you prepare with a plan and the confidence to follow it.
