I'm a rising junior at the University of California, Merced, pursuing a B.S. in Applied Mathematics with a Computer Science emphasis. I was named to both the Dean's List and Honors List during my first semester, and I was selected through a competitive nomination by the UC Education Abroad Program to spend a year studying at the National University of Singapore. Math has been at the core of my academic life, and my coursework has taken me through Multivariable Calculus, Linear Algebra, Differential Equations, and Calculus-based Probability and Statistics, among others.
My tutoring experience started at my high school's afterschool tutoring center, where from 2022 to 2023 I worked one-on-one with fellow students on everything from Algebra I through AP Calculus. I tutored fellow students who needed help with homework or preparing for exams, and it taught me how to adapt my tutoring to how the student best learns, as well as patience in re-explaining complex concepts. At UC Merced, I built upon this by hosting informal test-prep sessions for Probability and Statistics in Fall 2024, helping my classmates review key equations and concepts and working through practice test problems with them before our midterm exams.

My approach to tutoring is patient and example-driven. I like to break problems down into smaller steps, connect new concepts to ones a student already understands, and have them talk through practice problems out loud so I can catch misunderstandings early. I'm comfortable tutoring anywhere from Algebra I through Linear Algebra and Differential Equations, as well as Probability and Statistics, and I'm happy to work with students of any age who want a tutor who's patient, thorough, and genuinely enjoys math.

Approved Subjects

Algebra 1

Algebra 1

As an Applied Mathematics major at UC Merced, I have a strong foundation in the algebraic concepts that Algebra I builds on, from linear equations to functions and graphing. I tutored Algebra I students one-on-one at my high school's afterschool tutoring center for a year, helping them work through homework, prepare for tests, and build their confidence in applying math, and I've since tutored other math subjects to classmates at the university level as well. I focus on breaking problems into manageable steps and connecting new topics to concepts a student already understands. My goal is to help students build the algebra fundamentals they'll rely on in every math class after Algebra I.
Algebra 2

Algebra 2

As an Applied Mathematics major at UC Merced, I've built a deep, practical mastery of math through years of advanced coursework in both high school and university. As such, I have an understanding of where students tend to get stuck on Algebra II topics like quadratic equations, polynomials, exponential and logarithmic functions, and rational expressions. As a one-on-one math tutor at my high school's afterschool tutoring center, I helped students work through their homework, prepare for tests, and build their confidence in applying these math concepts. I've gone on to tutor other math subjects to classmates at the university level as well. I focus on breaking problems into manageable steps and connecting new topics to concepts a student already understands. My goal is to help students build a solid grasp of Algebra II to prepare them for Precalculus and beyond.
Differential Equations

Differential Equations

As an Applied Mathematics major at UC Merced, I've built a deep, practical mastery of differential equations through coursework covering first and second order ODEs, systems of differential equations, Laplace transforms, and series solutions. As a one-on-one math tutor at my high school's afterschool tutoring center and later as an organizer of study groups at the university level, I've helped students work through homework, prepare for tests, and build confidence in applying various math concepts, giving me a strong sense of where students commonly get stuck. Differential equations is honestly one of the first math courses where you actually get to use math to model interesting real life phenomena, but the problems can also be challenging for students since it draws heavily on calculus and linear algebra. My goal is to help students identify and break down these problems using the various tools in the "Diff EQ toolbox", to build a solid conceptual and computational grasp of differential equations so they feel confident tackling a wide range of problem types and further coursework.
Linear Algebra

Linear Algebra

As an Applied Mathematics major at UC Merced, I've built a deep, practical mastery of linear algebra through coursework covering vector spaces, matrix operations, eigenvalues and eigenvectors, determinants, and linear transformations. As a one-on-one math tutor at my high school's afterschool tutoring center and later as an organizer of study groups at the university level, I've helped students work through homework, prepare for tests, and build confidence in applying math concepts, giving me a strong sense of where students commonly get stuck. Linear algebra tends to be one of the more abstract courses in a math curriculum, so I focus on breaking problems into manageable steps and connecting them clearly to underlying theorems. My goal is to help students build a solid conceptual and computational grasp of linear algebra so they feel confident tackling proofs, applications, and further coursework.
SAT Math

SAT Math

I’m an Applied Mathematics major at UC Merced with experience tutoring students in algebra, geometry, and precalculus, which are the core skills tested on SAT Math. My tutoring focus emphasizes the reasoning behind each problem type rather than memorization, so that students can handle unfamiliar variants of recurring problems. I break down concepts like quadratics, systems of equations, and trigonometry into clear, manageable steps. My goal is to help students build both speed and accuracy to fully prepare them for the real SAT Math test.
