Hi there! My name is Scott, and I am a passionate tutor specializing in computer science and mathematics. My goal is to help students bridge the gap between complex theoretical concepts and practical real-world applications. I am currently pursuing my Master’s degree in Computer Science and Engineering at Santa Clara University (SCU), where I also earned my Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science. My academic journey has immersed me in cutting-edge technologies, including natural language processing, data privacy, and information security research. This experience allows me to bring modern insights to every tutoring session. Whether you're tackling your first lines of code or preparing for rigorous university-level coursework, I strive to make these challenging subjects approachable.

My tutoring journey began in high school, where I organized collaborative computer science study groups that worked closely with instructors to help my peers succeed in the AP Computer Science exam. This foundational experience taught me how to simplify core programming concepts for beginners. At the university level, I spent two years as a departmental Teaching Assistant for Calculus and Discrete Mathematics at SCU. In this role, I evaluated coursework and provided targeted, constructive feedback to over 150 students. Having guided students through both foundational high school curriculum and advanced college-level mathematics, I understand where learners typically struggle and how to help them overcome those challenges.

My tutoring approach is highly personalized and encouraging, centered around building genuine problem-solving confidence. Rather than simply providing answers, I focus on teaching the "why" behind mathematical proofs and programming logic. I break large, intimidating assignments into manageable milestones, using clear analogies and step-by-step explanations to ensure that core fundamentals are truly understood. I look forward to working with you to conquer your academic goals and master your coursework!

Approved Subjects

Data Structures

Data Structures

I majored in Computer Science and Engineering at SCU and earned a BS degree in 2026 after four years of study. I am in good academic standing with a 3.7/4.0 GPA. I got As in the data structure course (CSEN 12) and the algorithm course (CSEN 179) at SCU, as well as other courses closely related to data structures, such as Object Oriented Programming (CSEN 160).
Discrete Math

Discrete Math

For two years, while I was pursuing my BS degree at SCU, I worked as a part-time teaching assistant for the SCU Math Department. I worked closely with a professor and worked as a homework grader for his Calculus and Discrete Math classes. I provide homework feedback for over 150 students. I got that job because I got an easy A in his Discrete Math course, getting a 98% grade without any extra credit.
