Hi! My name is Aadya, and I am a tutor for elementary to middle school mathematics and English. I know that math and English can sometimes feel frustrating or overwhelming, especially when concepts are introduced quickly in class. My goal is to create a supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and working through problems at their own pace.
I have experience tutoring students through my high school’s peer tutoring program, where I worked one-on-one with students who needed extra help in math, english, and science. Through these experiences, I learned that every student learns differently. Some students need concepts explained step-by-step, while others benefit from reading through books out loud or practicing math problems on a whiteboard. I adapt my teaching style to fit each student’s needs.
As a student myself, I understand what it’s like to struggle with a difficult topic and how much of a difference the right explanation can make. Rather than just giving answers, I focus on helping students understand why a method works so they can solve similar problems on their own in the future.
I am an incoming Biology major at UMass Amherst and have completed challenging coursework in math and english throughout high school. Whether a student needs help preparing for a test, completing homework, reviewing class material, or building stronger foundational skills, I am happy to help.
Most importantly, I want students to leave each session feeling more confident than when they started. Seeing a student go from saying “I don’t get this” to solving problems independently is one of the most rewarding parts of tutoring.
