With a Master's degree in Electrical Engineering from Virginia Tech - one of the nation's top engineering schools - I understand that lasting success in math comes from understanding the why behind the concepts, not simply memorizing steps or formulas.

What makes my tutoring different?

For online tutoring, I use an iPad and Apple Pencil to create an interactive, real-time learning experience where students can see every step of the problem-solving process.

Homework is personalized to each student's needs. Instead of assigning large sets of random problems, I create targeted practice that focuses on the specific concepts, skills, and error patterns we identify during our sessions.

I teach students how to leverage AI to deepen their understanding, reinforce concepts, and accelerate their learning while developing the skills to think independently. AI can be a powerful tool for learning - but it should never replace critical thinking.

After every session, I send parents a detailed summary covering what we learned, areas that need additional practice, and assigned homework.

Who I work with:
• Grades 3–12
• SAT, GRE, and GMAT students
• Advanced students seeking greater challenge
• Students with learning differences (ADHD, Autism, dyslexia etc)

I have training in evidence-based strategies for supporting students with ADHD and executive functioning challenges, along with 10+ years of experience working with children with learning differences. As the mother of a child with special needs and a former homeschool educator, I understand that every child learns differently. I tailor instruction to each student's pace, keep lessons engaging, and create a supportive environment where students can build confidence while being appropriately challenged.

I'm currently offering discounted online rates while building my Wyzant clientele.

Approved Subjects

Algebra 1

Algebra 1

I have several years of experience tutoring Algebra 1 students with a wide range of abilities, from those who are struggling with foundational skills to those preparing for advanced coursework. I begin by identifying learning gaps that may be affecting a student's success, then create a personalized plan to build strong conceptual understanding alongside fluency. My goal is not just to improve grades, but to ensure students truly understand the mathematics and are well prepared for future courses.
Algebra 2

Algebra 2

To make sense of Algebra 2 a strong understanding of Algebra 1, Geometry and Trigonometry concepts is essential. I start off with addressing any gaps in pre-requisite concepts so students are better prepared for more advance topics. I also sometimes review the material before class so students feel better prepared when the lesson is taught in-class often at a fast pace.
Elementary Math

Elementary Math

The concepts learned during the Elementary years lay the foundation for strong Math skills. At this stage, it is essential that students truly understand the material rather than simply memorizing steps. When students build real understanding, they gain confidence in Math, which can open doors to future opportunities in STEM, business, and beyond. My approach focuses on making Math engaging and enjoyable by using visuals, hands-on tools, and math games to promote deep understanding. I regularly check for gaps in learning and address them early. I encourage students to show their work and explain their thinking, so they not only arrive at the correct answer but also understand the reasoning behind it.
Geometry

Geometry

I have several years of experience tutoring Geometry students, helping them develop a deep understanding of geometric concepts rather than simply memorizing formulas and theorems. I teach students how to visualize problems, write logical proofs, and apply geometric reasoning to solve challenging questions. I also strengthen prerequisite skills, such as algebra, when needed, so students have the foundation to succeed. My goal is to help students build confidence, improve problem-solving skills, and excel in both coursework and exams.
GMAT

GMAT

I scored in the 99th percentile on the GMAT and have a deep understanding of the reasoning, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills required to succeed on the exam. I help students improve their performance across all GMAT sections by strengthening foundational concepts, developing effective reasoning strategies, and building the confidence needed to tackle challenging questions under time constraints. For Quantitative Reasoning - I focus on reinforcing core math concepts, teaching efficient problem-solving techniques, and helping students recognize patterns that lead to faster, more accurate solutions. For Verbal Reasoning - I help students develop the analytical skills needed for Reading Comprehension and Critical Reasoning by teaching them how to evaluate arguments, identify assumptions, draw logical conclusions, and eliminate incorrect answer choices systematically. I create personalized study plans based on each student's goals, current skill level, and target score, while also incorporating proven test-taking strategies, pacing techniques, and detailed error analysis to maximize improvement on exam day.
GRE

GRE

I scored in the 99th percentile on the GRE Quantitative Reasoning section and have a strong understanding of the concepts and problem-solving strategies needed to excel on the exam. I have experience helping students strengthen their math foundations, improve speed and accuracy, and develop effective approaches for tackling GRE-style questions. My instruction focuses on understanding underlying concepts, recognizing patterns, and applying efficient strategies under timed conditions. I work with students to build confidence and create a personalized preparation plan based on their goals and areas for improvement.
Prealgebra

Prealgebra

I have several years of experience tutoring Pre-Algebra and helping students build the strong mathematical foundation needed for Algebra 1 and beyond. I begin by identifying any gaps in essential skills such as fractions, decimals, integers, ratios, and equations, then create a personalized plan to address them. My lessons focus on developing conceptual understanding through visual models, guided practice, and clear explanations so students understand why the math works. My goal is to build confidence, strengthen problem-solving skills, and prepare students for long-term success in higher-level math.
SAT Math

SAT Math

I have extensive experience teaching mathematics and help SAT Math students strengthen their foundations, master key concepts, and develop efficient strategies for solving problems accurately under time constraints. My approach focuses on understanding why methods work, recognizing patterns in SAT questions, and building the confidence needed to tackle challenging problems. I create personalized study plans based on each student's strengths and areas for improvement to help them achieve their target scores.

Best Math and Critical Reasoning Tutor!!

We are so glad we found Sweta. My son started working with her about a year ago through in-person tutoring for SAT Math preparation. She quickly identified and closed his learning gaps across Algebra 1, Algebra 2, Geometry, and Statistics. Sweta provided personalized worksheets that gave my son extra practice in the areas where he needed the most support. She also kept us, as parents, informed after every session by sending progress updates and outlining what they had covered. My son recently took a Bluebook practice test and scored a perfect 800 on the Math section. We have since transitioned to online lessons and have been equally impressed. Sweta is very tech-savvy and uses excellent digital tools that make the online sessions feel interactive and almost like in-person tutoring. We highly recommend her to anyone looking for a knowledgeable, patient, and dedicated math tutor.

Knows How to Help You Improve Your Scores on GMAT

SGK was able to assess the gaps in my Math foundations and tell me the concepts I need to focus on to boost my scores. She also gave me tips to manage time during the test to not get penalized for not completing the test. Will be scheduling more sessions for sure!
