Hi! I’m Dr. Melody Chen, and teaching languages makes me feel alive.

For over 20 years, I’ve been helping students of all ages and backgrounds fall in love with Mandarin Chinese and English as a Second Language (ESL). I believe that learning a new language is not just about grammar or vocabulary—it’s about opening doors, building confidence, and connecting with the world.

I hold a Doctorate in Education, dual M.A. degrees in Chinese and TESOL, and a B.A. in English. My doctoral research focused on Chinese language learners in the U.S., and my training combines deep academic knowledge with hands-on teaching expertise in second language acquisition.

Whether you're learning Chinese or English, I will tailor each lesson to your goals, interests, and pace. My approach is warm, student-centered, and encouraging. I create a safe space where you're free to make mistakes, ask questions, and celebrate progress.
