I am originally a native of South Carolina where I received my bachelor's degree from the University of South Carolina in business administration with a concentration in accounting (cum laude). After several years of experience, I completed a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Baltimore with a concentration in management. I furthered my education by obtaining a Doctor of Business Administration degree from Georgia State University with a concentration in accounting. I am a seasoned business professional with more than twenty years of experience in various industries (from consumer products to manufacturing). After a rewarding career in the private sector, I made the pivot to academia; these rich, professional experiences have infused my university-level teaching by integrating theory with practice. In addition, I hold certifications as a Chartered Global Management Accountant (CGMA), Certified Management Accountant (CMA) and a Certified Public Accountant (CPA).

With more than a decade of university teaching experience in accounting, I have taught diverse groups of students (e.g., millennials, Gen Z and mature pupils). The role of teacher/tutor is designed to be guide and/or facilitator of learning. The instructor must find innovative ways to impart critical knowledge. Secondly, it is critical to establish a firm foundation by disseminating information in an engaging way that will ensure knowledge transfer and retention. Lastly, for significant learning to take place, students must actively participate and engage in their learning. Thus, both the student and the instructor own the full measure of learning.
