Huy Pham: I'm currently a Second Year Medical Student (MS2) at the University of Massachusetts T.H. Chan School of Medicine. As a child, I was always interested in becoming a physician. My seemingly innocent childhood was overshadowed by a close family member's death from cancer. I was hurt and lost in my thoughts with no tangible direction in my life. Self-deprecation was my new best friend because it helped ease the pain. Slowly but surely, I found a passion for medicine after volunteering at a local clinic with many cancer patients. I relished the idea of serving these individuals as a physician and became absorbed in this naive dream of mine. Fast forward some odd years, I'm now a medical student at the prestigious UMass Chan Medical School accomplishing the many things I sought out years prior. I wish to support and guide pre-medical students with the same aspirations as mine because I know firsthand the difficulties of pursuing a path in the medical field.
I've had extensive experience with the medical school admissions committee at UMass Chan Medical School and fully understand the ins and outs of the application process. Similar to serving patients in the clinic, I wish to provide medical school applicants with my years of expertise as they tread this daunting path.
Steven Yim: I'm currently a first year Computer Science Master's Candidate at the University of Pennsylvania. During the pandemic, I assisted many peers with their medical school applications. I have experience with the intricacies of the application process like writing the Personal Statement Essay and Secondary Essays because of my past working with an MD/Ph.D. and P.D. Soros Fellow at UCLA-Caltech. The art of conveying your story is just as important as your GPA or MCAT score. I find purpose in helping you get the most out of your essays to make your application shine in the face of medical school admissions committees.
