Martin has helped my son with Calculus and SAT Math subject test. He is very patient and very thorough in explaining concepts. My son had trouble understanding some Calculus concepts in class, and Martin was able to help him understand it quickly. Martin went over the homework problems after the lesson, my son had a lot of confidence in the topic and was able to get an A on the quiz.
Martin is excellent in explaining challenging problems in the SAT Math practice tests. He has a lot of techniques and advice that helps my son do the practice tests. My son's scores on the practice tests have been improving.
Martin has surprised my son on how well he is learning now. My son usually understands and masters the concept after it being explained once by Martin. Martin is a excellent and detailed math tutor, and I would highly recommend him to anybody.
Worked me through examples of each section I had to learn, gave me some good tips to help make the longer processes a lot more manageable and easy to understand
Martin helped me with my multi-variable calc homework, specifically iterated integrals. He knows the subject well but sometimes gets a little off topic.
Martin was really knowledgeable and great with my daughter in helping her prepare for the Math II and and Physics SAT Subject tests. It gave her a lot of extra confidence in tackling these challenging standardized tests.
I am a sophomore at SFSU and if it wasn't for Martin I would have failed my calculus class. I had the worst teacher, who didn't explain the material and he barely spoke English, which made it even more difficult. I was basically trying to teach myself calculus. I was sure I was going to fail, but then I discovered Martin. We only met a handful of times, but in those few sessions, he taught me an entire semester of calc. Its like he taught me a foreign language. I am so grateful! I would be repeating that class if it wasn't for him. Thank you so much!!
Martin is tutoring my son in AP Calculus and so far it has really helped. He is patient and explains the concepts well. My son has a better understanding of the course material and is doing better in his class.
Martin is also very flexible with his tutoring schedule. My son has had to reschedule several times, and Martin has always accommodated him.
I enrolled in Calculus 110A for the summer at City College of San Francisco. Having never taken Calculus before, I knew it was going to challenging for me. This course is normally a 17 week course, but mine was accelerated into 7 weeks. I chose Dr. Martin because he immediately stood out. He worked as an aerospace engineer! I was like, "Cool!! Rockets!!" I knew instantly that Dr. Martin could answer all my questions through his experience, especially the most important one of them all: "WHY?" After the first lesson, my hunch was accurate. He was able to relate all the math that I was learning to real-life examples. Because my class was so accelerated, I frequently became jumbled by the new concepts and material. Martin not only clarified the concepts, but also pushed me to see the overall picture of what I was learning. During the third lesson, I learned that he volunteered at San Quentin to teach calculus. Your race, ethnicity, or background does not matter. If you want to learn, Martin is here to help. With Martin, I knew I wasn't just getting a tutor, I was getting a person who exemplified compassion and generosity through helping people that needed it most. In conclusion, I ended up getting an A+ in the class. I couldn't have done it without Martin! He's the math wizard!!
I am a senior in college and I had to take a summer online calculus course as a prerequisite for an economic class. I have never touched this subject since I graduated from high school, but I didn't think much of it because I never had great trouble with math. I then thought it will be fine for me to spend two weeks in Hong Kong for vacation while trying to balance calculus. After the first lesson, it was like a whole new language to me. I thought I will never pass this class. I was panicking so much while in Hong Kong, but then Martin reached out to me. He offered online tutoring and explained things very well. Explaining calculus online could be tough but Martin broke down everything so detailed and clear. His respondces were quick and we met up the day after I got back from Hong Kong. Martin was patient with me and even brushed up on my algebra and trigonometry. He used his own examples to explain thermos and terms which was way more understandable than my professor. I have never smiled while doing a derivative and calculus finally made some sense to me. I passed the class with an A-. Martin was truly a life saver.
Martin knows his stuff and is very thorough in his help. Many of the equations I need help on are complex, sometimes involving Physics with many variables and conversions. Martin has been invaluable in helping me wrestle through these challenging problems, showing patience and understanding with regards to my academic goals and hectic schedule.
Martin R is a very knowledgeable, flexible, patient tutor. He is an accomplished mathematician and engineer who is very good at tutoring all the way through the post-calculus level, including differential equations.
Martin has tutored several times with my son. He doesn't waste time on chitchat and starts class right away. He's very patient with my son, who is a junior but takes senior's calculus! Overall, I'm pleased.
Martin has helped my son succeed in math, as my son puts it an awesome tutor! Very helpful and understanding he is very sharp and can go fast at times, but always checks with you if he needs to slow down. Not only does he help you figure out which concepts you may need to work on to move forward, but he also helps you on how to apply concepts to the real world. If you need a tutor go see Martin he will help you succeed.
Martin is very knowledgeable of his subjects. My son understands him because Martin takes time with him by explaining everything slowly to him. My son looks forward to his lessons. We are so glad to find a tutor like Martin. He make Calculus easy.
My reason for going to Martin was a little different from most. I have a graduate degree in engineering, but it had been over a decade since I'd completed that, and in some areas my Math had grown pretty rusty. Martin has been helping me through a course of self-study of Linear Algebra and Multivariate Calculus. He understand the subject very well and has been very helpful in structuring and tailoring the sessions to my needs. I highly recommend Martin to anyone who is in similar position.
Martin is a very patient tutor who is able to work flexibly. He not only teaches you what you want to know but also why you need to know. Anyone who is taking calculus all the way up to linear algebra should definitely take him.
Martin arrives precisely on time every time and is decidedly professional. He is incredibly patient and explains the mathematical concepts in detail by going over examples, and ensures my son fully understood each one before moving on to the next topic. Martin's calm demeanor puts my son at ease, allowing him to focus on the work. For the first time, in a long time, my son got 100% on a math quiz!! Not only have my son's skills improved but so has his self-esteem and his faith in his ability to succeed in math. Martin is such a positive influence and we are so happy to have found him!
Happily Martin does not work by the school calendar and has scheduled a summer tutoring program with my son to get him prepared for next years math class. With Martin's flexibility and conscientious nature I know this summer program will boost my son's confidence in math and give him a head-start for not only the next school year but also his SAT and ACT tests.
Martin has been very helpful in explaining difficult concepts and helping me gain confidence in the subject. He has been very prompt in responding to e-mails and has been available for questions in-between meetings.
Martin is a great help to improve my daughter's math score. My daughter now feels more confident in math and started to ask questions. She lately has improved her math grade from a C to an A-.
Martin is punctual and very patient in explaining complicated pre-Cal concept. We are happy to have Martin as our tutor and are looking forward to his help in the SAT prep.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have tutored dozens of Wyzant students in calculus over the past 3 years, and have received excellent reviews regarding my clear explanations, building of confidence, phone and e-mail help beyond lessons as well as overall professionalism. I have also taught Calculus at Ohlone College and DeAnza College.
