Hello! I'm Dahlia but you can call me Dee. I received my Bachelor's Degree in Business IT Management from California State University, East Bay. I am have a Master's Degree in Teaching (multiple subjects credential) from the University of Southern California (USC). You might notice that what I majored in for my undergraduate degree is very different from what I am getting my post-grad degree in. I have always helped students in some way even when I was a young student myself. I frequently hosted study groups (I still do), offer assistance to classmates if they needed it, and have always been a teacher's assistant. It's not a surprise I've decided to switch gears from the Business IT world and go into Elementary Education.
I have been tutoring part-time for over 5 years now. I have a Multiple Subject credential and have taken the RICA which highlights my specialty in English (reading, writing, and grammar), but I am quite comfortable with Math and Science as well. In fact, I am currently a middle school STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art & Math) teacher.
One area I am really big on teaching is study skills. I enjoy helping people learn skills to not only be able to achieve their goals in the classroom, but also to help organize their lives. I use various organizational tools (from planners to calendars) to help keep students on track.
I am open to communicating with parents to not only discuss progress but to share how they can help their student as well.
My goal is to help students gain confidence in the classroom and in other areas of their lives.
