Bio

I have a Ph.D. in Computer Science/Robotics from Carnegie Mellon University and a B.S. in Physics from Carnegie Mellon University. I spent 35 years working in the tech industry in roles that started as researcher and engineer and grew to becoming the CEO of a software company and then a global technology strategy advisor. Having very frequently been the only woman in my work environment, I have deep compassion for students who are under-confident or feel they “don’t get what’s going on,” or “don’t fit in.”

All those years of achieving results in a traditionally male work world taught me how to thrive as a non-typical contributor and leader. My passion is to share what I’ve learned and to help grow the next generation of confident, powerful members of the STEM professions.

I am committed to helping students become confident masters of math and science. I know math, computing, and physics deeply - both as academic subjects (Ph.D.) and as a three+ decade veteran of industry.

When working with students, I focus just as much on how to become an independent and self-motivated learner as I do on the material we’re working on. I want you to become someone who knows how to teach yourself better than any tutor or teacher possibly could. My greatest success in this final phase of my working career would be making myself obsolete because there are no students left who need help learning.

My life experience has given me enormous compassion for anyone who believes - for whatever reason - that they are not “the right” type of person for a task, or that they are not prepared to perform well at something challenging. I’m here to help students find their power, their independence, and their own amazing abilities so that they can do what they want to do in life. Let's talk to see if working together makes sense!
