Hi! I'm Karen Fry, History teacher and founder of K. Fry Education Consulting. I've been teaching AP History for 26 years, and I still love it as much as I did on day one!
For 15 of those years I've also been grading AP exams, and I've been on the team that actually writes the scoring guidelines. I don't just know AP History. I know exactly how AP essays get scored, what graders look for, and what most students are missing. I hold three Master's degrees in U.S. History, World History, and Curriculum Development, with graduate study at Columbia and Oxford. I also do ADHD and Executive Function coaching. I have ADHD myself, which means I genuinely understand how to build systems that work for different kinds of brains.

I have been teaching AP U.S. History for 26 years and hold a Master of Arts in U.S. History with graduate study at Columbia University and the University of Oxford, but what truly sets my APUSH tutoring apart is that I spent 15 years grading AP History exams for the College Board and six years on the team that writes the scoring guidelines. That means I teach students not just the content of American history but exactly how to demonstrate what they know in the specific way that earns a 4 or 5. Whether a student needs help with the DBQ, LEQ, SAQ, or content review across any period, I focus every session on the skills and knowledge that move scores most.

I am an AP Euro Teacher, with AP Summer Institute Training, and an MA in World History with an emphasis on European History. I am an APUSH and AP World Teacher as well.

I have been teaching AP U.S. Government and Politics for over a decade and bring something genuinely rare to this subject: six years on the College Board AP Exam Leadership Team writing the scoring guidelines, which means I know exactly what earns points on every FRQ type, Concept Application, Quantitative Analysis, SCOTUS Comparison, and Argument Essay, from the inside. My sessions focus on the specific constitutional principles, required Supreme Court cases, and analytical writing skills that separate a 3 from a 5, with real rubric-based feedback on every essay students write. Whether a student needs help with the required SCOTUS cases, the Argument Essay thesis, or content review across all five units, I teach AP Government the way graders think about it.
