I am a Japanese native, born and raised in Yokohama, Japan. I moved to the states after getting married and have lived in San Francisco for over 30 years now.
It was important for me to raise my children to be bilingual, so I made sure to speak Japanese at home, teaching them to read and write. They are both grown adults now and are fluent in Japanese.
