Hello, my name is Trevor.
I know how difficult learning physics and calculus on your own can be. I would like to ease that difficulty by helping my students become fully independent thinkers. I received my Master's of Science in Physics from San Francisco State University (SFSU), in August 2017. I have studied upper division physics classes such as electrodynamics, mechanics, theoretical physics, modern physics, thermodynamics, statistical mechanics, electrodynamics, solid-state physics and quantum mechanics. I have studied computational physics which has allowed me to use Python, C, MATLAB and Mathematica to numerically solve complicated physics problems. By using these programing languages, I have written script to solve error analysis, numerical integration and differentiation, a multi-body solar system simulation, a partial differentiation equation solver, and much more. I have also completed the lower division chemistry-major’s sequence of courses and The American Chemical Society (ACS) exam.

Currently I am self-employed working on physics consulting projects and private tutoring. While working on my Master’s thesis at SFSU I worked in the Quantum Optics research lab exploring plasmonic resonant solitons in metallic nanosuspensions, and optical trapping (optical tweezers). If you would like to know more feel free to ask me any time. I love anything to do with the outdoors, from bike riding to camping to just taking a nice walk. I also enjoy music and I love to play the piano and guitar. I also love painting and drawing, and it is so satisfying to create something that makes you happy.

Thank you,
Trevor

ACT Math

ACT Math

I regularly tutor all levels of math.
Algebra 1

Algebra 1

Algebra 1 can be thought of as the real beginning of important math, and with that comes more difficult concepts. I understand where students have common difficulty, and I enjoy helping to them to reach complete understanding. Graphical and analytical analysis of equations and word problems are now required. A deeper understanding of Quadratic and linear equations is required, and I can help answer any question a student may have.
Algebra 2

Algebra 2

Algebra 2 starts to introduce the concepts that will be more rigorously explored in Precalculus. Proper understanding at this point is very important. Inequalities, polynomials, exponents, quadratic equations, functions, exponential and logarithmic functions, and series are all very important. I can help students to understand any of these concepts.
Calculus

Calculus

Calculus is the culmination of all the mathematical skills a student has learned up to this point. Calculus leaves the perfect and polished problems of pre-calculus behind and steps into the realm of real world problems. Total understanding at this point is essential. The introduction of limits and the derivative (rate of change) can be very daunting to students, but with a little help, it can all be broken down into understandable parts. Application of the derivative is next, ranging from extrema, mean values, first and second derivate test, limits at infinity, optimization, to differentials. The next most important topic is integration, and the anti-derivative, and the simple methods associated with these. The next section that can be very difficult for students is the transcendental functions and the associated integration. These methods, from logarithmic differentiation and integration, inverse function, exponential, inverse trig, to hyperbolic can be understood with the proper explanation. Differential equations, integration applications, improper integrals, infinite series, parametric equations, vectors, functions of several variables with differentiation and integration, and vector analysis, can also be understood with proper explanation. I can help you with any of these topics.
Chemistry

Chemistry

I can help you understand the fundamentals of General College Chemistry, including properties of molecules, Ion, stoichiometry, unit conversions, chemical equations and the molar mass and molar ratio relationships, aqueous reactions, solutions and concentration, thermochemistry and enthalpy, the atomic model and quantum mechanics of the atom, the periodic properties of the elements, molecular geometry and bonding, the ideal gas law, intermolecular forces, kinetics and rates of reactions, chemical equilibrium and Le Chatelier's principle, acid-base equilibria and pH, entropy and Gibbs free energy, electrochemistry and nuclear chemistry.
GED

GED

The GED tests students on their general knowledge of high school subjects, including mathematics, language arts, social studies and science. I can help in the understanding and application of all of these skills.
Geometry

Geometry

Geometry lays the ground work for understanding mathematics and the world around us. Lines, area, volume, angles, triangles, polygons and spheres are very important for an understanding of how to apply math. I can help students realize the important conceptual aspects of geometry.
Physics

Physics

Physics describes the fundamental interactions between matter and energy, and offers methods to quantify and understand the underlying mechanism of the physical systems that we interact with every day. I am well versed in the subject of physics with calculus, from mechanics to electricity and magnetism. More specifically, I can help with the application of calculus to understand kinematics, vectors, Newton’s laws, gravitation, work and energy, linear and angular (rotational) momentum, static equilibrium, fluids and buoyancy, waves and vibrations, sound, temperature and kinetic theory, heat, the laws of thermodynamics, electric charge, field, and potential, electric currents, DC and AC circuits, magnetism, electromagnetic induction, electromagnetic waves, light and geometric optics, the wave nature of light, optical instruments, special relativity, quantum mechanics and nuclear physics. If you need help in any of these subjects I can provide assistance.
Prealgebra

Prealgebra

I am very familiar with all the aspects of Prealgebra. I can help students to recognize the importance of variables, formulas, equations and graphs. These concepts can then be applied to word problems to figure out real life puzzles. Prealgebra is a very important time in a student's mathematical skills development and I can help any student with any conceptual hurdles they may have.
Precalculus

Precalculus

Precalculus is the gateway to calculus. Function manipulation, using graphing software or calculators, polynomials with complex numbers, exponential and natural log functions, trigonometric functions, parametric equations, and matrices and systems of equations are involved subject matter, and can easily be misunderstood. I can help clear up any difficulty's a student might have with any precalculus subject.
Trigonometry

Trigonometry

From the unit circle to graphing trigonometric functions I can help you understand everything involved with trigonometry.

The perfect tutor

Trevor is so knowledgeable in physics. He anticipates what pieces of information could be missing and simplifies the information so you can understand it easily. He is great!!

Amira, 4 lessons with Trevor

Prepared and knowledgeable tutor

Trevor was a huge help for me in my Optoelectronics class. This class included quantum mechanics, semiconductor physics, band-gap engineering, LEDs and more! He was always prepared before our sessions to make sure our time was spent efficiently. He explained the topics and concepts very thoroughly, I highly recommend Trevor for any of your mathematical or physics needs, even at these high levels.

Reliable, patient and accomodating tutor

Trevor has been helping my son with both Physics and Algebra and has been a gamechanger in his confidence. He is very responsive and flexible. Our schedules tend to be in flux due to sport and transportation issues and he is always understanding.

Linda, 6 lessons with Trevor

Easy to understand

Trevor assisted me with some discrete mathematics and was able to quickly determine where I was going awry and point me in the right direction. His examples and how he shows his work really make learning much easier.

Great Teacher

Trevor has been a great help for my daughter in Physics. She felt he explained the material well and she feels more confident in class.

Katie, 5 lessons with Trevor

Helped my son in Mechanical Vibrations

Work problems were sent to Trevor beforehand. Trevor was great completing problems before hand so that he could spend the time actually working together with my son and answering his questions on this area of study. Although this is a challenging area for my son, Trevor was very helpful explaining solutions to aid in understanding. My son found Trevor very helpful. Thank you very much.

Patient and Accommodating

Trevor has been very patient with me as I embark on my physics journey. He does not get frustrated or make me feel incompetent when I do not understand concepts. Trevor has also been patient with my schedule and has been willing to make accommodations with me. I appreciate Trevor a lot and look forward to our tutoring sessions together. Thanks again Trevor, see you next week.
