Hello! My name is Eileen, and I am passionate about helping students succeed and develop confidence in biology and the sciences. I graduated with Dean’s Honors from the University of California, Santa Barbara, earning a degree in Biological Sciences with a 3.82 GPA. I also scored a 517 on the MCAT (93rd percentile), reflecting a strong foundation in biology, chemistry, and related sciences. During college, I served as a BioMentor, a peer tutoring program supporting students in introductory biology courses. In this role, I worked with small groups of 4–5 students, reviewing lecture material, clarifying challenging concepts, and helping them prepare for exams. This experience taught me how to break down complex topics into clear, understandable explanations and adapt my teaching style to meet each student’s learning needs.
My tutoring approach focuses on building a strong conceptual foundation, encouraging critical thinking, and helping students develop confidence through practice and active engagement rather than memorization alone. I have experience teaching topics including cell biology, genetics, physiology, biochemistry, and molecular biology, and I enjoy helping students not only succeed academically but also develop genuine curiosity and excitement for the subject.
