Aside from my professional training, I'm personally inspired by Marie Kondo, and I believe that the principles of her work apply to all areas of life. Indeed, I have applied them to my own--if you're ever curious for a tour, I'd be happy to oblige. The kindness and mindfulness that Marie's method requires are also fundamental to mine.

If we work together, you'll learn to tame seemingly unending thought loops, prioritize what's really important, and get things done. You'll learn how to relax, enjoy your successes, and make time to smell the roses.

Test Preparation

MCAT,

MCAT

Here’s how to take an MCAT: Biological and Biochemical Foundations of Living Systems (B/B): First pass: Speed through the questions, answering only the ones that don’t require a Passage Dive, circling the rest Second pass: Apply my method for Process of Elimination (see below) only on the circled questions Chemical and Physical Foundations of Living Systems (C/P): First pass: Speed through the questions, answering only the ones that don’t require a Passage Dive, circling the rest Second pass: Apply my method for Process of Elimination only on circled questions Psychological, Social, and Biological Foundations of Behavior (P/S): First pass: Speed read the passage, write down the main ideas, attempt only the questions that don’t require a Passage Dive, circling the rest Second pass: Apply my method for Process of Elimination only on circled questions Critical Analysis and Reasoning Skills (CARS): First pass: Speed read the passage, write down the main idea, attempting only the questions that don’t require a Passage Dive, circling the rest Second pass: Apply my method or Process of Elimination only on circled questions The Kathryn Method for Process of Elimination: Make one of four marks next to each answer choice (AC): a big X, a small X, a small dot, or a big dot. A big X means that you know the AC is BS A small X means you think the AC is probably BS A small dot means you think the AC is plausible A big dot means you think the AC is the most plausible so far For all but the big X’s, start the horse race (the AC’s are horses): for each piece of the AC, give the horse a plus or minus point. The horse with the most points wins. I don’t care if it’s the one you wanted to win or not. You circle it as your selection for the correct answer choice and move on to the next question. Done.

Knowledgeable and patient tutor.

Kathryn is very knowledgeable, patient, and encouraging. When I had trouble understanding certain math concepts on the CBEST practice tests she took the time to explain various ways to solve the problems. Kathryn also gave me practice problems to do in between our tutoring sessions, which was very helpful.

Best tutoring experience yet.

My daughter was able to understand and complete her homework independently after a session with Kathryn. She explains concepts in a way that anyone can understand. We are so glad to have found her, thank you!

Laura, 12 lessons with Kathryn

She is a gem I highly recommend!

Knowledgeable and a great teacher

Kathryn just started tutoring our son in AP Calculus and she's doing a terrific job of breaking down difficult subject matter in a way that he can understand. She is also very very flexible with time which helps us out so much.

Lori, 28 lessons with Kathryn

Outstanding, has changed our daughter's life for the better.

Kathryn has been tutoring my daughter for last two + years, she has been outstanding. Reliable, thoughtful, across all subjects math / history / creative writing, helping my daughter stay organized and focused with tasks large and small. Could not have better things to say about her as a tutor and a person.

Matthew, 96 lessons with Kathryn

We love her

She can teach fractions to a now confident 6 grader. She is helping a high school Jr get ready for her PSAT.

Maddy, 72 lessons with Kathryn
