Medical school admissions is beyond what you've done: it's about how you communicate it. As a 4.0 UC Berkeley Molecular and Cell Biology graduate, a 526 MCAT scorer, and an incoming medical student at a T10 institution, I help applicants transform strong experiences into compelling applications through every stage of the medical school admissions process (i.e. Personal statements, Work and Activities entries, Secondary Essays, school list strategy, letters of intent and interest, waitlist communication, and interview preparation).

My advising reflects current admissions trends and committee expectations, focusing not only on strong writing but also on strategic positioning. I have reviewed hundreds of medical school essays and application materials and have worked with students across a wide range of MCAT scores, GPAs, academic backgrounds, and life experiences, including reapplicants and nontraditional students. My approach is individualized, helping applicants identify the experiences, themes, and narratives that make their applications cohesive and compelling.

I also coach students in personal essays, literary analysis, and academic writing. My teaching emphasizes close reading, clear communication, and purposeful revision—skills that strengthen both academic writing and successful application essays.

In addition, I coach students preparing for EMT coursework and NREMT certification. As an EMT instructor with experience as both a field EMT and Emergency Department Technician, I teach from both the classroom and clinical perspectives. My NREMT preparation focuses on clinical reasoning and test-taking strategy rather than memorization alone, helping students succeed on both the cognitive exam and psychomotor skills assessments.

Approved Subjects

College Counseling

College Counseling

I’m a UC Berkeley Molecular & Cell Biology graduate (4.0 GPA) with extensive experience mentoring pre-med and college students through academics and the application process. I’ve worked closely with students on personal statements, secondaries (200+ written), and interview preparation, helping them clearly communicate their experiences and stand out. I also have a strong background in teaching and tutoring, including experience as an Organic Chemistry tutor and EMT instructor, which allows me to guide students in both academic performance and long-term planning. My approach is highly individualized, focusing on building clear strategies, strong narratives, and confidence so students can succeed both in their coursework and applications.
Creative Writing

Creative Writing

Grounded in narrative medicine, my approach to writing emphasizes the intersection of storytelling, reflection, and precision. As a former medical journal editor, I have a strong foundation in clarity, structure, and thoughtful revision. I work with students to develop a distinct voice while deepening emotional and narrative impact. The result is writing that is both intellectually and emotionally compelling.
Elementary (K-6th)

Elementary (K-6th)

I have experience teaching elementary students across all core subjects, including English, math, science, and social studies, through Teach For India. I adapt my teaching style to each student’s needs and focus on making concepts clear and engaging. My goal is to build strong foundations in reading, writing, and problem-solving while keeping students motivated and confident. I aim to create a supportive environment where students feel comfortable learning and growing.
EMT/ NREMT

EMT/ NREMT

I am a certified Emergency Medical Technician (NREMT), having passed both the cognitive and psychomotor exams on my first attempt. I have supported students through EMT coursework and NREMT exam preparation, covering patient assessment, airway management, trauma, medical emergencies, and pharmacology. My instruction is precise and exam-focused, built around the NREMT's clinical reasoning framework so students develop both the knowledge and the decision-making skills required to pass and practice confidently.
Essay Writing

Essay Writing

As an editor for a medical journal for four years, I have extensive experience refining academic and scientific writing for clarity, coherence, and precision. I work closely with students to strengthen argumentation, improve structure, and develop a confident, polished voice. My background in scientific studies and research allows me to guide both analytical and narrative writing effectively. I aim to help students produce essays that are both intellectually rigorous and engaging to read.
Interview Prep

Interview Prep

I have firsthand experience with the medical school interview process, and I currently I help pre-med students prepare for both MMI and traditional panel formats. My main focus is helping you create a seamless narrative and confidence while covering common interview questions, ethics scenarios, and how to present research and clinical experience compellingly.
MCAT

MCAT

I scored a 526 (100th percentile) on the MCAT and hold a Bachelor of Science in Molecular and Cell Biology from UC Berkeley, where I graduated with a 4.0 GPA. I tutor all four sections of the MCAT with a focus on building genuine conceptual understanding rather than rote memorization, using all the tips and tricks I learn on my own journey.
Personal Statements

Personal Statements

I specialize in personal statements for medical school, college admissions, and other competitive programs; identifying what makes each applicant truly distinctive and shaping it into a compelling, cohesive narrative. My approach is grounded in firsthand experience and editorial rigor. I've navigated both the college and medical school application processes myself, including admission to UC Berkeley, and spent four years as a medical journal editor with a focus on narrative medicine. That combination gives me both the strategic perspective of someone who has lived these processes and the precision of someone trained to make every sentence do real work. Having written over 200 secondary essays, I have a clear, calibrated sense of what separates strong applicants from memorable ones. I work closely with students to build writing that is confident, authentic, and built to last past the first read.

Definitely recommend!

I’m not your “typical” student. I had a session with Katie to go over a poem titled Beyond The Maps Edge by Justin Posey. The author hid $2 million worth of treasure in the American West, with his poem being to key to unlock his treasure location. We reviewed metered poetry, metaphors, allegories, and much much more! Katie was genuinely interested in the subject and helped with perspective of how the poem is set up. Our session gave me new insight into the poem (aka riddle) I’ve been working on for just over a year now!

Amazing Tutor

Katie has been my tutor for the past month or so. She first tutored me on poetry- specifically a poem title Beyond The Maps Edge. I was so impressed, that I asked if she would tutor me on a book by the same name. Working on themes, layered text, character development, and more. Katie is always so prepared when our sessions begin, and thoroughly reviews every aspect of the poem/book. As I’ve said in a past review- she is genuinely enthusiastic about teaching, and is extremely kind. If you’re looking for an amazing tutor- look no farther!
