I am a dedicated biology tutor with a strong academic background and extensive real-world experience in both clinical and research settings. As a graduate of Boston College, I earned a B.S. in Biology with a concentration in Microbiology, where I developed a deep understanding of chemical and biological systems. Courses I’ve taken include ecology and evolution, cell biology, biochemistry, genetics, physiology, and organic chemistry, which allows me to approach biology as an interconnected discipline rather than a collection of facts.
Throughout my undergraduate years, I worked part-time as an EMT for a private ambulance company in Boston, where I gained firsthand experience in applied human biology and learned how to clearly communicate medical concepts and conditions to patients from diverse backgrounds. I was also a member of BCEMS, a student-run EMS organization on campus. A major component of this role involved education, both through continuing education sessions for our members and community-focused events such as first aid classes and CPR marathons. These experiences emphasized active participation and hands-on learning.
During college, I also volunteered as a teacher’s assistant for an undergraduate Ecology and Evolution course. In this role, I helped organize course materials, graded assignments, held office hours, and worked one-on-one with students to clarify challenging concepts. Teaching peers, often students close to my own age, taught me how to build rapport and communicate respectfully before identifying gaps in knowledge and introducing new material.
After graduating from Boston College, I spent two years working in an allergy and immunology laboratory at Boston Children’s Hospital, where I further refined my analytical thinking and ability to break down complex biological systems. As a tutor, I apply these experiences through an emphasis on conceptual understanding and personalized instruction to help students gain confidence and mastery in biology.
