I have over three years of experience tutoring elementary and middle school students in reading, literacy, and foundational academic skills. I have worked with organizations such as FOG Readers and Volunteer Tutoring SF, where I provided one on one and small group tutoring support to students with a wide range of learning needs. In these settings, I focused on building phonemic awareness, decoding skills, reading comprehension, and overall academic confidence. I have primarily worked with students in grades one through eight, tailoring each session to the individual student’s learning style and pace. My experience in both volunteer and structured educational environments has allowed me to develop strong instructional skills and classroom management strategies.
In addition to tutoring, I work in Extended Care at St. Stephen’s School, where I support students in a school based setting outside of regular classroom hours. This role has strengthened my ability to engage students, reinforce academic concepts, and create a positive and structured learning environment. My teaching approach is rooted in patience, clear instruction, and personalized learning strategies. I use multisensory techniques, step by step guidance, and positive reinforcement to help students stay engaged and build confidence. I am especially experienced in supporting students with learning differences, as I bring both professional training and personal understanding to my work.
I will be attending the University of San Diego, where I plan to double major in behavioral psychology and special education. My academic interests further support my ability to tutor students who need individualized attention and structured support. Through my education and hands on experience, I am well prepared to provide effective, thoughtful, and supportive tutoring to help students reach their academic goals.
