My name is Melissa and I have been an educator teaching in-person and more presently on-line for more than 25 years. I graduated Long Island University, Magna Cum Laude with a bachelors degree majoring in Journalism. I specialize in tutoring English and Spanish reading, writing, conversation, and public speaking.
I have experience tutoring Special Needs Students (Autistim and ADHD).
My first teaching job was while I was in my second year of college as a Journalism teacher for middle school students and I fell in love with education!
During the past 25 years, I have worked with students K-12 and Adult Education.
My life has been dedicated to education and helping students to reach their goals.
I am experienced in working with students to help them advance their skills in reading, writing, speaking English, making public presentations, and building life long learning skills.
I have taught Spanish to new speakers of the language assisting them to read, write, and converse with fluency.
I am also experienced in helping students improve and master standardized testing formats, so they can get high scores on the exam.
I can also teach students meditation and mindfulness techniques that can help them to study, take exams with less stress, and master their own thoughts on learning.
I have assisted hundreds of students to pass the High School Equivalency Exam, the TOEFL exam, and the ACT.
I am a very patient teacher and try my best to make learning fun, while also reaching our learning goals and milestones.
My proudest achievement is the success of my Autistic son. I have been homeschooling him for 10 years and he has excelled brilliantly, and I have humbly learned to be a very effective special education teacher.
