My name is Arjun. I provide in person tutoring in the San Francisco Bay Area or online tutoring with a flexible time and travel schedule. I work at Stanford, I hold a PhD in Computer Science from Carnegie Mellon University and a Bachelors in Mathematics-Statistics from Columbia University. Over the years, I have tutored high school, college, and graduate students in advanced mathematics, statistics, computer science, biology, chemistry, and test prep (SAT, GRE, ACT, AP) endeavors.
My specific experience spans individual and group/class tutoring of undergraduate and graduate students in advanced courses like machine learning, advanced algorithms, multivariate calculus, and organic chemistry. I have also tutored many students individually at the high school level, particularly in advanced placement and SAT/ACT exams; I aim to impart an understanding of the fundamental principles of the subject along with test-taking strategies, as I believe these will allow my students to rapidly see results.
My approach to tutoring revolves around understanding the student's end goals, learning style, and problem areas. I aim to not only solve the student's immediate frustration but enable them with problem-solving strategies and a deep understanding of the subject that will enable them to confidently navigate future challenges. I also aim to provide a glimpse at some of the inner beauty underlying mathematics and science. I have been fortunate throughout my academic career to have mentors who have promoted by interest and curiosity in science and technology; I believe that any great tutor should be able to spark a student's underlying passion for a subject and demonstrate its underlying beauty.
