Hello, I am Sebastián! I’m a Mexican citizen with an IB Diploma and a Mexican High School (graduated from CETYS Universidad) diploma with a converted unweighted GPA of 3.84, awarded as a distinguished student every semester of my three high school years due to my participation in the Mexican Mathematics Olympiad and my high scores (9.6 to 9.9 out of 10).

In my Olympiad experience, volunteer tutors were essential for learning, but they also taught me the importance of passion and enthusiasm in a learning environment. I competed seven years in a row at a national level, getting six awards: three bronze medals and three honorable mentions. After graduation, I became an in-person and online Olympiad volunteer tutor (in Spanish) at the elementary (grades 4-6, from 9-12 year olds), middle (grades 6-9, from 12-15 year olds), and high school (grades 10-11, from 15-17 year olds) levels for two years. I tutored students one-on-one and in small groups (5 to 20 students).

I taught mathematics from elementary to undergraduate Geometry, Number Theory, Combinatorics, and Algebra. I relied on the Olympiad’s resources, which had theory and problems with diverse difficulties. I first explained the theory, solving any questions that arose. Then, I let students try the easier problems to grasp the topic’s essence, always open to explain or give tips to solve these if needed (solving as a group or individually the harder problems at the end), but I always want my students to try before asking for help!

I believe in the importance of active learning, which led me to study Computer Science (focused on pure math) at Minerva University. I enjoy applying mathematics as much as dwelling in theory; I find both areas fascinating.

I am open to free consultation meetings (around 15 minutes) before booking classes. In these meetings, we can discuss what topics you want to work on and how you want to learn (any resources or comments are welcome). I’m also open to answering any other questions or concerns you may have outside of meeti

ACT Math

As a former Olympiad competitor and coach, I have been involved with test-style questions. I've also passed the AA IB mathematics course, demonstrating deep knowledge in the field. I have expertise in the topics that the ACT exam syllabus provides.
Algebra 1

Algebra 1

I have worked as a math tutor for math Olympiad participants (grades 4 to 11), where algebra was taught as part of the curriculum. I have expertise in algebra, from pre-algebra to higher-level algebra (as a math major and Olympiad participant). I have taught pre-algebra, algebra 1, and algebra 2 to Olympiad participants for two years.
Algebra 2

Algebra 2

I have worked as a math tutor for math Olympiad participants (grades 4 to 11), where algebra was taught as part of the curriculum. I have expertise in algebra, from pre-algebra to higher-level algebra (as a math major and Olympiad participant). AMC (Competition math)

AMC (Competition math)

As a former Math Olympiad competitor (national level in Mexico, 7 years) and tutor (2 years), I have expertise in the fields of Geometry, Number Theory, Combinatorics, and Algebra. Participating for a long time has refined my experience in these fields, which are the basis for most national and international math competitions (depending on the level and country), such as the AMC and IMO.
Elementary Math

Elementary Math

I have more experience as a tutor with older students (K-4 onward), as a volunteer tutor, and as an Olympiad tutor. I've shown expertise in different math syllabi, from elementary-level to undergraduate in multiple fields. When tutoring younger students, I try to be patient and help them find answers while supporting them along the way.
Geometry

Geometry

As a former Math Olympiad competitor and tutor, I have expertise in the fields of Geometry, Number Theory, Combinatorics, and Algebra. Participating for a long time has refined my experience in Geometry, with my experience as a tutor helping explain the topics to students from different levels (K-4 to K-11) at different difficulties.
Prealgebra

Prealgebra

I have worked as a math tutor for math Olympiad participants (grades 4 to 11), where algebra was taught as part of the curriculum. I have expertise in algebra, from pre-algebra to higher-level algebra (as a math major and Olympiad participant). I have taught pre-algebra, algebra 1, and algebra 2 to Olympiad participants for two years.
Precalculus

Precalculus

AA IB Math covers precalculus and calculus, subjects in which I demonstrated expertise by applying the topics to theoretical and real-life scenarios. I have further experience with my extensive Olympiad participation, where I had higher-level mathematics and applied it theoretically.
Probability

Probability

The AA IB Math syllabus covers probability, a subject in which I demonstrated expertise by applying the topics to theoretical and real-life scenarios. I have further experience with my extensive Olympiad participation, where I had higher-level mathematics and applied it theoretically, mainly in Combinatorics. My knowledge of different mathematics syllabi covers the topics seen in probability.
SAT Math

SAT Math

I have expertise in the topics covered in the SAT exam and further mathematics. I am excited to share how the math you are learning can have real-life applications beyond an exam context.
Spanish

Spanish

Spanish is my first language. I was raised in Mexico and went through the Mexican education system, which was conducted in Spanish. I can teach from beginner-level to advanced, including Spanish literature.
Statistics

Statistics

The AA IB Math syllabus covers statistics, a subject in which I demonstrated expertise by applying the topics to theoretical and real-life scenarios. I have further experience with my extensive Olympiad participation, where I had higher-level mathematics and applied it theoretically. My knowledge of different mathematics syllabi (including my major) covers the topics seen in statistics up to K-12 and beyond.
Trigonometry

Trigonometry

The AA IB Math syllabus covers geometry and trigonometry, a subject in which I demonstrated expertise by applying the topics to theoretical and real-life scenarios. I have further experience with my extensive Olympiad participation, where I had higher-level mathematics and applied it theoretically. My knowledge of different mathematics syllabi covers the topics seen in geometry and trigonometry.
