Bio

Hi there! I’ve worked as a Mechanical Engineer in climate tech R&D, at a national laboratory and a startup, for 5 years. I know how to learn and retain technical knowledge to be able to use it in a practical way and am really good at helping others do the same! While STEM has always been my bread and butter, my favorite subject is literature and I love to read and write.

I have 4 years of experience tutoring middle schoolers in math, science, and literature. I have 3 years of experience tutoring college students in advanced mathematics, statistics, and mechanical engineering courses. I have 2 years of experience tutoring high school students in algebra, geometry, literature, creative writing, and ACT prep. I also have 1 year of experience tutoring college students in GRE prep! I’m currently tutoring elementary students in reading comprehension, writing, and grammar. On top of this, I have served as a student teacher, engineering camp leader, and high school STEM outreach coordinator.

I approach tutoring the same way I approach my own learning— a deep dig into the material with frequent breaks to tie everything into the bigger picture (e.g. how will you actually use this), repetition and practice exercises to get it to stick in the brain, and making sure to keep things upbeat and interesting. Boring work is not the answer! Actively using your brain to problem solve is the primary muscle an engineer works and it’s a muscle that needs to be built up and maintained. Whether you’re becoming an engineer or not, problem solving is a vital skill you will use everywhere in your life. I’ll work with you to build your problem solving approach from the ground up in your subject of choice. I have always loved teaching and helping others— I benefitted extensively from wonderful mentors and teachers in my youth and I’m deeply invested in advancing the education of others.

In my free time, I enjoy cooking elaborate meals for friends, working out, meeting new people, and reading novels. I hope we get to learn together s
