About Ryan

Bio

Hi! My name is Ryan B, and I’m a third-year medical student at Harvard Medical School. I grew up in Honolulu, Hawaii, where opportunities for aspiring physicians were scarce. Coming from a small-island community, I faced unique challenges and a late start in my pre-med journey, but I refused to let these obstacles define my path. Instead, I developed a strategic and efficient approach to studying for the MCAT and applying to medical schools, and now I want to share that path with you.

I understand firsthand how overwhelming this journey can feel, especially for students from underrepresented or underserved backgrounds. That’s why I specialize in coaching and providing adaptive, tailored guidance to help others overcome their own challenges. My experience includes:

100+ hours of MCAT preparation tutoring.
Personalized medical school interview coaching.
Detailed personal statement revisions.
Strategic advice on extracurricular programs to strengthen applications.

My students have gone on to receive interview invitations from top-tier institutions, including Yale and Harvard Medical Schools, and acceptances from a wide-variety of schools across the country. In addition to one-on-one coaching, I’ve created an organization dedicated to helping pre-med students from Guam achieve their dreams of becoming physicians, empowering those from backgrounds like mine to succeed. I am up-to-date on the latest trends in medical school admissions and consistently perform my due diligence to ensure adequate results.

If you’re looking for a mentor who understands your struggles and knows how to navigate the challenges of the pre-med journey, I’m here to help. Medical school admissions does not need to be complicated, with a little guidance and support. Let’s work together to craft a plan that reflects your unique story and sets you up for success.

USMLE

USMLE

I passed USMLE Step 1 with only two weeks of dedicated preparation, demonstrating an efficient and high-yield approach to mastering the foundational basic science content tested on the exam. For Step 2 CK, I achieved a score in the 95th percentile (270) following a five-week dedicated period, reflecting both strong clinical reasoning skills and the ability to perform under high-stakes testing conditions. Since 2024, I have served as a near-peer tutor for medical students at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, where I specialize in USMLE shelf exam preparation through structured review sessions and targeted presentations. Over the past year, I have mentored five students through their Step 1 and Step 2 dedicated periods, all of whom achieved their target scores. In addition, I currently lead a Guam-based medical student support program focused on test-taking strategy and USMLE preparation, a role I have held for the past two years with the goal of improving access to high-quality board exam mentorship for students in underserved Pacific Island communities.
