Hello! My name is Fabiola! I'm an audio engineer and private music instructor with over 7 years of experience teaching guitar, piano, audio engineering, music production, and more! I have taught people of all ages, ranging from age 4 to age 54--all with differing amounts of musical experience--and I have experience with both in-person and virtual lessons. My main goal in teaching is to find a learning style that works best for you and to help you feel confident and empowered in what you do and foster a deep love for music!
I have been passionate about music since I was a small 12 year-old messing around on GarageBand, but I didn't get serious about music until I was a junior in high school taking music and computer technology, learning how to produce and record music on FL Studio. I taught myself multiple instruments, using the music theory I learned in my Piano Lab class to quickly pick up piano, guitar, ukulele, bass, and multiple others. At age 17, I began teaching private lessons and have done it ever since. I went on to study music and recording arts in college, where I learned much about differing styles of music, modern recording techniques, mixing/mastering, and new DAWs such as ProTools and Logic Pro.
Since graduating college in December 2021, I have worked as an Audio Engineer at a recording studio. In 2022, I became the Head Audio Engineer/Assistant Director, a position I held until I recently decided to go freelance. There, I gained lots of experience recording and mixing lots of different genres and artists, in addition to doing live audio engineering. Using my knowledge, I also became a teacher there, teaching Audio Engineering and Music Production. During this time, I continued teaching my own private music lessons, as well as became a Lead Instructor at Girls Rock! DC. There, I taught at their after school program and their summer camp, leading audio engineering workshops and teaching guitar and keyboard to groups of 10-15 students.
