Hi, I'm Matthew, and I'm here to help you master the art and science of learning. With close to 10,000 hours of coaching experience, I specialize in working with high school and college students, including those with learning and attention disabilities, mental health concerns, and other challenges that may impact academic success. But challenges are just the beginning of your success story!

I'm an expert on "The Neuroscience of Learning" (I even designed and taught a college course on the subject). I help students understand how their brains work. We learn from neuroscience to discover ways of being better, including understanding dopamine, focus, processing, and memory.

Through executive function coaching, we'll develop essential skills to plan, prioritize, regulate, motivate, and organize your way to success. I create a supportive space where you can explore, ask questions, understand concepts, apply techniques, and repeat the process until mastery.

I earned my Bachelor's Degree in Black Studies and Sociology from a top state school in New York: my Master's Degree in Education & Human Development from The George Washington University. I recently completed my MBA in Business Analytics, and I'm a SHRM Certified Professional.

I've worked at colleges on the East Coast and currently teach at undergraduate and graduate levels at Bay Area institutions. My first-year success course can be adapted to support high school students and college students striving to excel in their studies.

I will be your accountability partner, helping you build an impressive learning toolbox and develop a growth mindset essential for lifelong success. Together, we will work towards raising your GPA, graduating with flying colors, and finding the momentum you need to thrive.

If you're eager to develop insight, enhance your learning skills, and make each session count, I would love to work with you. As a lifelong learner, I am passionate about helping others discover the joy of learning and achieving their goals.

ADHD

ADHD

I have completed "Coaching Teens & College Students with ADHD" from JST Coaching & Training. My experience in coaching includes working with 50+ students with ADHD. In that work, we focus on task initiation, motivation, attention, follow-through, and learning. These students have increased their GPAs and developed essential skills.
African American Studies

African American Studies

I have deep academic and professional experience in Black Studies. As an undergraduate, I served as a teaching assistant for an Introduction to Black Studies course and collaborated with faculty on research projects grounded in Black Studies scholarship. For my senior capstone, I wrote a 60-page interdisciplinary manuscript applying Black Studies frameworks to examine a complex social issue. In graduate school, I authored and presented a 70-page research paper on race, racism, and white privilege at an academic conference. I remain actively engaged in racial equity work through my role on my university’s Diversity Action Group, where I contribute to institutional efforts focused on inclusion, equity, and anti-racism.
Career Development

Career Development

I was trained as a Peer Career Counselor in college, where I served over 300 students. My clinical internship (more than 1500 hours) for my Master's degree was career counseling within a university. I've earned dozens of continuing education hours in career development, including courses for my DEI in Human Resources certificate from Cornell University. I have created programming with Career Services and provided career coaching at four universities across the country, and I hold a certification as a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor, which focuses on supporting individuals with their personal and career goals.
Executive Functioning

Executive Functioning

I've earned a certificate in Coaching High School and College Students with ADHD from Jodi Sleeper Triplett, and coached hundreds of college students in New York and California in executive functioning. I spent 6 years as an executive function coach at Vassar College, and now facilitate professional development series on executive functioning to coaches and faculty at Dominican University of California.
Interview Prep

Interview Prep

I have over a decade of experience conducting mock interviews and interview prep for high school students, college students, and young professionals. I taught a “Career Lab” course for five summers, focused on interview strategies, and currently coordinate employment and internship programs where I lead mock interviews and hiring preparation. I’ve personally hired more than 50 student leaders and facilitated the full interview process. During my graduate clinical internship, I served as a career coach, supporting dozens of students through job and internship searches with a strong emphasis on interview readiness. I’m SHRM-CP certified and have extensive experience supporting first-generation college students, international students, and students with disabilities tailoring interview coaching to meet a wide range of access needs and cultural contexts.
MBA

MBA

I hold a Master of Business Administration with a concentration in Business Analytics. I earned a 4.0 GPA, and I won my MBA cohort's business simulation; my car company had highest cumulative shareholder return; highest ROI; and highest EBITDA. I coach business students and have tutored students in accounting.
Public Speaking

Public Speaking

I have extensive experience teaching and coaching public speaking across a wide range of audiences: high school and college students, and faculty and professional staff. I’ve facilitated workshops on communication, presentation skills, and facilitation techniques for student leaders, and I regularly deliver presentations and trainings as part of my role in higher education. I also provide one-on-one coaching to help students build confidence, improve delivery, and tailor their message for different settings whether it’s a class presentation, interview, or public event. My approach is supportive, skill-based, and focused on helping each individual communicate with clarity, purpose, and confidence.
